How Sturdy is it? I put a lot of pressure on the canvas with my brush.

I think it’s quite sturdy. My canvases are medium to small size. It might not be super sturdy if you’re using a really big canvas.

How flat can it fold?

It cannot fold flat once assembled due to the drawer.

What are the dimensions of the bottom arm (the horizontal piece that holds the work)? Specifically, what depth of work (how thick) can it hold?

I just started learning, but I use stretched store bought canvases & have to put a 1"X behind it or the canvas falls down inside the groove.. It might be supposed to do that, as I said, I'm VERY new to painting.
