Another great product from Lonpar, and I could not be happier about what I received. I will be honest, when I initially received the product, I wasn't sure about the durability. I have had collapsible rods in the past and they all quickly failed due to improper construction. I was afraid that this would be another one of those situations. But I was very wrong.Holding it in your hand, while collapsed, it seems very light almost to the point of too light to bring in fish. But once you fully extend the rod, I was pleasantly surprised with how sturdy the rod ended up feeling. It seems to be a medium to Medium-heavy stiffness. The reel itself was a 3000 size Lonpar Tideep, and felt very smooth, packing conveniently into the pouch supplied by Lonpar. The combo also came with 15lb fishing line, but I opted to use 30lb braid that I had on hand, since I was going to try using this rockfishing.Out on the water, the combo performed very nicely. Casting was a breeze, never to be tangled up or caught up. Sensitivity was perfect, allowing me to feel strikes and the seafloor. And being that this rod was stiff, I was able to bring fish onto shore very easy. After a long day of using this rod, I was able to catch a nice 16 inch cabezon, and countless surfperch without any hiccups.I loved this combo and I could definitely see myself using this when I need a compact rod and reel combo with me. Heck, I might even bring this along as an extra rod wherever I decide to go. Now, there are only 2 real improvements that I could potentially see to make this combo even better(even though the value is already perfect). The reel did feel a size too small, which is totally fine for a compact rod, but if I were casting super far out, I would be more comfortable with a larger reel. The other is the actual extension of the rod(which all manufacturers don't do) extending the rod is made timely due to having to constantly check to make sure the eyes are aligned. I modified mine by aligning the eyes as best as I could in extended form, and making marks on the rod with permanent marker so that I could quickly align it next time. Both of these improvements are pretty minor(the second being something that you could easily do at home) and they don't take away from the quality of this product. One can’t underestimate the ability to put 3 10’ fishing rods in a backpack and go out fishing. Especially when you belong to a boat club and can’t keep your fishing equipment on a boat. Also, if you have a small car, that’s another win. These have worked well for me in saltwater and are of decent enough quality that I’m not worried about them holding up to light abuse.However, you’ll find yourself frustrated with the process of collapsing these and stuffing everything back into the bag. It’s just the nature of the beast. But, with like most things, there’s a rhythm and a process to it that take some getting used to.With all of that being said, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy more of these for the convenience alone.

We are not regular anglers. But we do enjoy passing a crisp, cool morning fishing off the dock. This equipment is much better than the poles we had been using. It's light weight yet sturdy. Plus, it stores nicely in its own pouch so we leave it in the car just in case we come across a fishing hole we like. I found the reel easy for casting. I might put a heavier line in it so we do not have to talk about the one that got away. All in all quite satisfied.

Positives:Looks great! Red, black and chrome look niceLove the collapsible aspect of the rod and reel.Negatives:Reel is not terribly smooth when casting, as compared to the other collapsible rod and reel I have purchased from AmazonThe line frequently gets wrapped around the bail. There is a nook right where the line feeds through, and it gets stuck every 5 casts or so. I figured out if you flip the bail upwards (as opposed to any other direction), it gets stuck less.Overall:I like the collapsible rod, but the reel needs some improvement

Very compact and functional. Took this on a hike into a mountain lake in Idaho. not inconveniant or bulky. got up to the lake and was able to catch a few trout with it. The action on it is a little stiff. Really the only action it has is in the final extension. its fiber glass and it gets going pretty good. the rest of the rod is veryvery stiff.

looks like a toy, but works well. fits in anywhere
