Reliable mineral sunscreen with strong protection and gentle ingredients
I picked up the CeraVe 100% Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 because I wanted a sunscreen with strong sun protection that also uses mineral-based active ingredients, and overall it’s been a solid option. The biggest benefit is the SPF 50 broad-spectrum protection, which gives good coverage for daily use, especially during extended sun exposure. Since it’s a 100% mineral sunscreen, it uses zinc oxide and titanium dioxide rather than chemical filters, which is a major plus if you have sensitive skin or prefer mineral formulas. The quality of the formula feels good overall. Like many mineral sunscreens, it is a bit thicker than chemical alternatives, but it spreads reasonably well once applied carefully. It also includes CeraVe’s signature ceramides, which help support skin moisture and barrier protection. In terms of skin comfort, it feels gentle and non-irritating. It worked well on sensitive areas without causing burning or discomfort. One thing to note is that, like many mineral sunscreens, there can be a slight white cast, especially if you apply a heavier layer or have a darker skin tone. However, that’s fairly typical for this category. The packaging is easy to use, and the product feels durable enough for regular travel or daily carry. Pros: * Strong SPF 50 broad-spectrum protection * 100% mineral formula * Good option for sensitive skin * Contains ceramides for added skin support * Trusted skincare brand Cons: * Can leave a white cast * Slightly thicker texture than chemical sunscreens * Requires careful blending Overall: This is a solid mineral sunscreen if you want dependable sun protection with skin-friendly ingredients. It may take a little more effort to apply than lighter sunscreens, but the protection, formula quality, and gentle ingredients make it a worthwhile choice.

Excellent Protection and Hydration
This product is excellent. I noticed a difference in my skin very quickly, even after the first use. I really like CeraVe products, and this one provides excellent hydration and sun protection. However, in my case, it leaves a noticeable white cast on my skin and has a scent. If you can tolerate the white cast, this product is definitely worth trying because the moisturizing and protective benefits are excellent.

Great physical protection for sensitive eyes, but expect a noticeable white cast
I spend a good chunk of my day outside walking my dog, so I go through a lot of SPF. While I love lightweight chemical sunscreens, they sometimes sting my eyes when I sweat, so I picked up this CeraVe 100% Mineral Sunscreen for days when I need a heavy-duty physical block. Here is how it performs in the real world: The Protection: With Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide at SPF 50, the actual sun protection is bulletproof. I haven't gotten any color on my face even after spending hours out in direct sunlight. It also doesn't irritate my skin or sting my eyes at all. The Texture: This is a very thick cream. Unlike watery lotions, you have to be intentional about applying this in thin layers, otherwise it can feel heavy and slightly greasy sitting on top of your skin. The White Cast: This is the main reason for four stars instead of five. Because it is a 100% mineral formula, it leaves a very distinct white cast. You have to spend a solid minute thoroughly massaging it into your face to sheer it out, and even then, it can leave a pale, chalky finish, especially if you have a deeper skin tone. Verdict: If you have sensitive skin or eyes and specifically need a physical mineral block, this is a highly effective, affordable option. Just be prepared to spend a little extra time rubbing it in front of the mirror before you head outside!" A quick tip for posting: A photo showing a streak of the cream on your cheek right before you rub it in, or a side-by-side of your hand with and without the sunscreen rubbed in, will give other shoppers a very realistic look at the white cast.

Not recommended unless you’re translucent and enjoy smeary sunscreen
Cons: •White cast. If my skin tone were swatched like paint colors, I’d be Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace. I’m pale and it even makes ME white as a ghost. It’s hideable under full coverage foundation but otherwise you’re gonna glow. •Grippy. It’s for your face, so you should be able to blend it into your skin evenly. This stuff STICKS. Very difficult to blend on even the most well hydrated face. It starts drying almost immediately and then leaves streaks. •Heavy. It is advertised as a non-greasy formula but I’d disagree with that. Not that I expected it to be like the fancy ones out there but it’s not like the melt in kinds at all. Very much traditional sunscreen you’re slathering on—nothing different because it’s for your face which makes it feel heavy. Pros: •I mean… it’s sunscreen. It did its job, I wore it and I’m not burnt so.

Only mineral sunscreen to not dry me out!
First mineral sunscreen that doesnt dry me out! Skin feels hydrated all day and doesnt feel like it compromises my other products. Other mineral sunscreens seem to always absorb all the moisture in my skin, despite using a ton of hydrating products underneath. This is fantastic for my rosacea prone skin. Only downside is the slight smell for the first hour or so after applying. Kinda smells like gasoline, but that's from the zinc. It does go away at least. This does also leave a white cast, which I am okay with since I am a red head with skin the color of paper and it kinda just looks like a bb cream on me. But I could see that being an issue for anyone who is blessed with the ability to tan/deeper skintones.

Not the sunscreen for me
I do like most CeraVe products, but this is a reminder to myself and everyone else to make sure you do adequate research on how products like sunscreen work and differ from each other. Since this is a mineral sunscreen, it leaves a very obvious white cast to have a physical barrier between your skin and the sun and reflect the uv rays. Unfortunately for me I just looked like a ghost, so I definitely wouldn't recommend this for anyone with darker skin. Another unfortunate thing, this sunscreen is pretty thick, and made my skin feel greasy rather than hydrated. I had to apply way less than recommended so it didn't feel so heavy on my face throughout the day. As a mineral sunscreen, its fine. But if your skin isn't very sensitive, I'd suggest looking into a chemical sunscreen instead if you want something lightweight and has no white cast.

Great mineral sunscreen
Some reviews bemoan the fact that it turns your skin white. And yes, I cannot disagree with them on that. However... It's a *mineral* based sunscreen. Mineral sunscreens work by providing a *physical* barrier. Meaning, there essentially *must* be a thick enough physical coating on your skin to prevent burn/UV. Chemical based works differently, and that's why you don't get a thick coating with those. So it's unfair to compare the two. Furthermore, this is an SPF 50, so it's going to be thicker -- *must* be thicker -- than lower SPF. I've used lower SPF minerals before and those are not as thick. This is a great sunscreen for me and it works fine for me because I'm a pretty pale kid who easily burns. So the white coating isn't as obvious on my skin. That's not true for everyone, however, so do what works best for you. For those blessed with darker skin, this white mineral coating probably does look kinda bad, so I don't blame y'all for hating that. Unfortunately, I don't see another way around that when you get a high SPF mineral sunscreen. Ultimately, get whatever sunscreen works best for you. But understand that this product does exactly what it's supposed to do and it really can't be better than it is. So, full marks from me. Again, I burn easily, so I reapply frequently. As long as I do that, I have never gotten burned while using this sunscreen. It's great and works really well.

White Cast as Expected, but Product Made my Skin Flaky
This is a mineral sunscreen, so it should leave a white cast. It's annoying that most sunscreens advertise as not doing this, but it's part of how they work, unless you use a chemical sunscreen. On that subject, this formula does use a chemical sunscreen in addition to the zinc. This is really common. It's not the worst, nor is it the best. I gave it 2 stars because it causes my skin to get dry and flaky. It's so thick and oily going on, but after using it daily for a couple of weeks (and washing it off in the afternoons or evenings) I started have flaky skin on my arms and legs and face. I have not had any sort of sunburn and using this was the only skincare change I made. After I stopped using it, it went away. It didn't itch or have any irritation, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I use a different brand now without any issues.

I love this product as i have sensitive skin and eczema. It has little white cast but its manageable if applied carefully with HA serum and moisturizer. Will definitely buy again.
