Classic Weight Workout
I am a huge Cathe fan and own many of her DVDs, including Pyramid Upper/Lower Body, Slow & Heavy, and the Gym Style series. I just ordered Pure Strength to have a little variety. This is my favorite of them all! In this workout, Cathe does classic weight lifting exercises with relatively low reps and heavy weight. (She actually uses much lighter weight than in her current workouts; I can keep up with her here. Although, I can see the weight plates she is using and I have wondered if she is including the weight of the bar when she says how much she is using).Because of the low reps, she moves quickly from one exercise to the next which makes the time fly by. There are not a lot of weight changes on the bar bell like in many of her workouts. As another reviewer mentioned, the upper body sections can be done in one day if you skip the warm up on one of them; combined they are just over an hour.I consider myself to be in pretty good shape, but this workout left me sore for a few days. This workout is a great starting place if you are new to weight lifting or new to Cathe. I think it's great for even an advanced exerciser as long as appropriate weight is used. The hair and clothing are a little dated, but that certainly doesn't take away from the quality of this workout.

What can I say about Cathes DVD that has not been said? Oh my this one is doable for beginners in my opinion all the way to advanced. She tells you form and reason for doing some moves. It is thought out well, gets every muscle there is.Cathes weights selection in this DVD is not as heavey as she does in say burn sets or Muscle Max or her later DvD so this is why I say it is good for beginners. I am intermediate to advanced and I can use her weights she uses here and a bit heavier where as in her later ones I have to go less then she does! So if you want to start out with Cathe and lifting and do not know where to start? Try this one for lifting. It is a great fundatuon, and you advanced exercisers you too can enjoy this but use heavier then Cathe and you WILL feel the burn. It is straight no nonsense lifting!

Buyer Beware
I received this dvd inoperable, the sound was scrambled, the visual of the instructor was obscured and the colors literally were running together in presentation. Buyer beware. This was totally a bad copy of the original dvd and not viewed before sending out to a buyer.

Oldie but more than goodie!
Get ready to not recognize Cathe (this was before all the face work...), and meet her bodybuilt body...The instructions are great, the training is serious, this is solid working out, at a great price, Just be ready for an out- of- date video style. Who cares? Cathe is such a professional exerciser and teacher!

A favorite!
I really liked these workouts as they are solid strength training but not as dull as some other strength workouts and I love there are some new variations of standard excercises to make it seem fresh.Use this quite often

My favorite!
I have to keep re-ordering this DVD, because I keep giving them away! These are very thorough weight training routines, without being so intense I feel like I will pass out.I get real results from these workouts, and I always look forward to doing them.Ok- maybe not the leg workout, that one is pretty tough.Cathe is the best for advanced workouts.
