The L was too tight around chest and shoulders but a good fit elsewhere
I am normally a Large. I opted for the XL because I expected Ben Sherman to be on the Slim Fit side of XL. After ordering I saw current season Melton jackets in local store. I tried on the L and the XL. The L was too tight around chest and shoulders but a good fit elsewhere. The XL was big on me but a good fit across shoulders and chest. I knew I would need tailoring and have taken the XL jacket to the tailors the day it arrived (sleeves need to come a bit as well). With regard to Ben Sherman fittings... I am around 6ft1inch, 83kilos, 107cm chest, 87cm waist. In Ben Sherman shirts I fit in a Large sized Tailored Fit. In their Soho fit I need an XL. The Ben Shreman web site says that their only fitting notes for jackets is the chest size and that it is universal across the range. If you have a straight up straight down shoulder and torso this will fit off the rack. Hope that helps you decide your right size. This is a high quality jacket (the Tailor thought so as well). It is quite heavy with a lot of padding and would probably suit severe winter weather. One very nifty feature it has is an internal draw string which allows you to pull it in and set the waist tighter. It perhaps cinches the material a bit. I opted for tailoring and will use that feature just a little, however, that feature allows for a lot of flexibility in the body fit. At the price its selling for I think it is an amazing bargain. Highly recommended. The colour is basically dark grey and is representative of the image.

Very nice looking and well made coat with a strange fit
This is a very nice looking coat, well made and is probably quite warm, but it has a really strange cut, not sure what body type it would fit. I'm 5' 10" and weigh around 155 Lbs., and have fairly narrow shoulders. Going by some of the reviews that said the coat runs a bit small, I ordered a large instead of a medium. I found the sleeves were too long, it hung down to mid thigh, but the the shoulders were were uncomfortably tight and narrow. The only body type I can imagine this fitting well would be someone over six feet and rail thin. I would exchange it for a medium, but the medium costs 3 times as much as the large so I am just going to return it.

Warm coat, modern twist on a classic style.
Bought this as a surprise for my husband, as a modern take on the classic peacoat. It arrived well packaged on the hanger, with tissue, and in a plastic garment bag. It fit him very well, he is 5'10" and about 190 with broader shoulders. The 4 pockets adds some visual interest, and it isn't "too boxy.". He wore it for the first time on a 40 degree day and said it was almost too warm (which is perfect for Minnesota weather).

Liked the look and feel
Liked the look and feel, but have never seen coats so small. Ordered a XLarge first and could not zip it up. Returned the XL and ordered an XXLarge and couldn't zip it either. Another thing I didn't like was the zipper, to me it was installed backwards, the pull tab was on the left side.

Great jacket, and purchased at a steal price
Great jacket, and purchased at a steal price! Excellent quality. Like other users mention, does fit more snuggly in the chest and arms. I am 6'3" and around 200lbs, and the large fits me perfectly (although definitely fitted in the chest and arms). Don't hesitate if you are looking for a high quality jacket, as the craftsmanship is exceptional on this one.

Not really good quality overall
My son loves this coat, which heavy and warm, a real winter coat. Unfortunately a snap button came off a week after the return date closed, and now the zip doesn't work, either. Not really good quality overall, then. But he just loved the fit and feel of it. I think Amazon is now sold out of this item, but I would beware the quality control on these Ben Sherman jackets.
