If you wear this on your arm, does it recognize movement and exercise for the activity rings?

Yes, I wear Apple Watch with this band on my lower or mid arm and it recognizes movements and exercise for activity rings and other exercise apps. I have not compared wrist versus arm to see if one is more effective than the other. I bought the band so I could wear on arm and avoid hitting equipment when it’s on wrist

Will this still let the watch read heart rate?

Yes. Your watch will be reading your heart rate from anywhere you place it in your arm that it isn’t your wrist.

Does it work with Apple Watch Series 5 - 44mm?

You have to select option for 42mm/44mm. I bought the option for 38mm/40mm and it worked for my series 5-40mm watch

Can it be adjusted to fit a forearm?

Yes it can fit almost Everywhere in your arm...
