This is a review of the Vinyl record
Alison Moyets first Album, every track on this is pure magic and brings me back to my childhood.I had the original version of this record, and I must say this sounds a lot better, apparently the original tapes were used to make this re-issue, the sound is loud, crystal clear and very dynamic, my only problems with the pressing the center hole is a bit small so you have to push down hard ( just my copy) to place it on the turntable.

Timeless
Its hard for most people to remember a year that seems so far away now, 1984 that is, but some remember quite clearly (like myself) it is Now 32 years ago, most young wil just see it as an old date with old fashioned things to date it, but it wasn't really like that at all at that time thankfully, it was the 5th year of the decade and was the mid 80's, and 1984 was a very particularly awaited year at the time, because of a certain book written about big brother.1984 started musically good and varied, and by the late spring early summer the popular music scene exploded!!Everyone wanted to be on top form, and to make the year 1984 befit the heralded title of the book and thus it turned out to be legendary, the music mags (Smash hits record mirror NME No.1 ) all went mad vyeing for artists to adore or hate, and review or poke fun at!you name it, they wanted it wild!!Music technology at that time had moved on to a very large extent, sound sampling was now de-riguer sample play back devices such as drum machines and synths, along with new digital recording equipment such as SSl and mitsubishi and mcl recording consoles were all becoming the norm way to make music via Fairlight CMI, Synclavier, Linn drum, yamaha dx7 etc etc, and all this meant that the sound of the music we were hearing would never be the same. There were Trevor Horn inspired songs in 1984, from frankie goes to hollywood and The art of noise,There was new soul from Sade to Matt bianco and Tina turner and Everythíng but the girl,There was considered pop from the human league and heaven 17 and Culture club.Ballads from john waite and julian lennon, stevie wonder all made it thoughtful, the dance pop came from Hazell dean, The Pointer Sisters, kim wilde, Malcolm mcclaren, SPK, BananaramaBronski beat, Prince, Chaka khan, and moved all of us in ways we didn't move before, There was break beat, freestyle, break dance, electro, chicago house and Hi-Nrg styles to choose from.Boy band trends from Duran Duran to Spandau ballet and they're trendy fashion statement styles to clubland sensibilitys all intrigued most,And there was thoughtfull pop art from Nik kershaw and Howard jones. And in the middle of Wham! and frankie, there was the wonderful girl from basildon, armed with jolley and swain and she went solo and made her nick named self titled album "Alf"Alison moyet was never too comfortable with the very commercial aspect of this albums music, but jolley and swain produced a quite timeless album sound wise, and alison sounded very fresh and edgy in 84'Off course naturally this album Sold in truckloads from late 84 onwards for yrs!And it should never be underestimated with the passing of time, just how truly influential considered and modern that this "Alf" album and the songs contained therein, were.Dated well I feel, still sounding like all the elements of very great popular music today, alisons voice stands as a monument to what a real true artist can sound like without the quite terrible overused vocal gymnastics and entourages and middle shaded straight haired big boobed corporate automatants were deluged with momentarily. The girl got on with it, she sang it!She Toured it, She hated it, she ultimately moved on, but left us a shining example of mid 1980's brilliance par excellance in singing, music production, and well realised song writing for such a young age at that time, that lives up to the name 'good' in 2016.Its doubtless that in 32 years time many many people will still be enjoying, singing, crying and loving to this 'Alf' album, and by then the generic overuse of the term "80's" in all its despiseable condesension and put down tone, will have long since dissapeared and the music shall once more be evaluated for what it is,for what it Was and what it will continue to be forever more, excellent likeable acceptable Timeless good music and song, sang by a Real singer that the world still needs so badly to blow away the blues .Thanks Alf xx

Quality Album
Alison has one of the most distinctive voices in the music industry. This album takes us back to 1984 when she first burst onto the scene. The album went to number one and also spawned three hit singles: Love Resurrection, Invisible & All Cried Out. ‘For You Only,’ was released the following year but surprisingly failed to chart here, though they loved it in Germany, where it reached number 7, Her highest entry there. Her ‘Singles’ compilation also topped the charts in 1995. She has not released an album or single now for three years so one would expect something reasonably soon. This is album is packed with quality songs and simply has to be 5 stars.

How could Alison Moyet ever disappoint?
This album is Alison's first solo album after Yazoo ended and the start of some fantastic albums over the years. Everyone goes on about Adele, Alison Moyet is Adele and then some.

Tolles Erstwerk
Großartige Platte ohne Abstriche die eine ,wenn auch kurze, erfolgreiche Karriere eingeleitet hat .Eine unvergleichbare Stimme die zum Markenzeichen von Alison wurde . Anspieltipp: For You Only und genießen sie dann das unvergleichbare ' All Cried Out'
