What a life saver to have this on hand, or in the back of your car! Gotten myself, friends and strangers out of trouble more than once! Well worth the price! Charges nice and quickly so you're not caught short, and ready to start your car when the power in your battery isn't up to the task! A nice sturdy build, and small enough to not worry about storing it anywhere specific!

Excellent product and value for money easy to use

We have a 2.8 diesel Chrysler Grand Voyager. We've had trouble starting it over the years if it hasn't been used for a while, and it does NOT like starting in winter. This has been particularly bad recently, even with a fully-charged battery. This device has changed all that. Recent overnight temperatures have dropped to at least -4 and the car would not start, but started instantly when I connected the power pack. I've done this on a few occasions now, and it works every time. I did look at the GB40 but that goes up to 3.0 for diesels (I'm a 2.8) and a few reviews suggested that these devices might not quite reach their advertised thresholds. Rather than take a chance, I went for the more powerful GB50 and it's been great. The price goes up a fair bit from GB40 to GB50 but we need our car to be reliable and I though it was worth paying the extra now rather than regretting saving a few pounds later. The only downside is that there are no instructions on how to use it! I just went on YouTube and found a video easily enough. That's not enough for me to knock a star off the rating, but is a bit daft. The device is actually pretty easy to use. There is an option to deactivate the safety mode for when the battery is completely flat. I've not tested that, and some reviews suggested that this caused problems. In that scenario, I'd just whip the battery out and put it on charge.

Got this and, when my Jeep's relatively new battery recently died in cold weather, this thing managed to turn the engine and sustain it, despite my forgetting to reset idle. Once reset, I used this again and it turned the 3.7L V6 lump again. Afterwards, checked the levels and was only half-used. So this definitely performs and I'm well happy with this. The unit itself is deceptively small for the power, smart-looking and light, with quality charge cables (although these could be longer) and a car charger plug, handy for charging on the go. Downsides? Well as others have noticed, the instructions are tiny, especially for an old git like me, so this must be rectified at this price (hence only four stars). I'm sure there are those who had bad experiences who didn't know the right setting for a completely flat battery (you have to override it), and not everyone carries a magnifying glass with them, so this is a big omission. Also, for what it is, it is pricey.

I have a motor home with a 2.3L diesel engine which - depending on the time of year - can be parked up for a good few weeks at a time without moving. I got this because I was worried that I’d rock up at the compound during the winter months when the solar panel may struggle to keep the batteries charged and I’d struggle to start the van with a flat battery. It’s not happened yet. What did happen ( I now know ) is that the cab battery suffered cell damage so whilst away ( far, far from home) I couldn’t start the motorhome. Every time I needed to start it, I used the GB50 and it started in a few cranks. The alternator was generating enough leccy to keep the engine running once it was started but the battery couldn’t hold enough charge to start the engine. So each time I turned the ignition off, I used the GB50 to restart the engine. This means fuel stops, waste water dumps, stalling (?) etc So I reckon I used the GB50 maybe 7 to 8 times before I got it to a local place that could diagnose and swap the battery out. Performed brilliantly. If I didn’t have the GB50 it would have been a recovery job and I’d have to cut the holiday short. People weren’t always around to give a jump start. So yes, if that battery is as ‘flat as a witch’s tit’ it’ll start it but also if the battery was totally bust like mine then it *still* started the van. I’d rather not be in the position to have to call on the GB50, but when I needed it it saved my holiday. So now I’m an advocate 😃 What I would say though is that the distance between the HD leads is only good enough to reach between the posts of your batteries. In my case, I used specific designated jump start points in my engine bay ( Fiat Ducato - you must not jump start via the main battery due to ECU issues ) and these jump start points are further apart than the supplied leads will go so I used a jump lead as an extension to the HD leads as supplied. This shortness of terminal HD lead is the only grumble that I have.

I was going to by the 90 model but I like overkill so I went for the XL. I'm actually quite glad I did. I read the instructions and plugged it into my USB charger. It took 4.5 hours to charge which is I think what the instructions said it would be. I have always been a bit sceptical of these little car starters because they look so small compared to the big lead acid powered ones of old. But it does do the job and it does it pretty well. I was convinced when a friend told me that his "90" model started his 5 Litre AMG Merc but all the same I wanted the extra comfort zone for my high compression 4.2 Litre Audi RS5 so I bought this bigger XL model. This model is supposed to be able to start an 8 Litre car. Three times. It does the job perfectly, however I would question its ability to do it three times in a row without charging. I think that's pushing the boundaries of belief. For example, on my 20 HP Briggs garden tractor engine, the thing was flat after three 10 second cranking sessions. But crank it it did and had the petrol been actually going into the engine <grin> it would have started. And I've no doubt that as soon as I clean out the crud from its 20 year old carburettor, it will... I also bought the optional carry case which is a nice design and this whole thing will fit nicely in my glove box until it is needed. I only have one slight complaint: The crocodile clips to connect the battery ought to be on a longer leash. On a big engine you have a big battery and opening these out to the full extent of their Y makes it a very tight stretch on my battery.

I moved to a new place, local shops about a mile away, being a lazy ass I kept using my car over and over for short journeys, suddenly a couple of hard frosts hit and it wouldn't start, just that click we all know. I did lots of research, buy a battery charger or buy a jumper, I decided to buy a jumper, why? I decided a battery charger is no use to me if I am out and the battery goes flat, at least with a jumper i could get the car going, drive around for 20 miles keeping the revs above 2,000 and it would charge half the battery, making a mental note to do a decent run sometime within a few more days. The NOCO Boost XL GB50 was my choice because I had read bad reviews about similar products with ratings for a particular car or engine size were fails, so I went for something powerful, much more than I needed, my thought process was if over time it starts to become old and holds less charge, it will still hold enough for what I need (I have read they slowly lose a holding capacity). Right, it arrived, 25% charged, it uses a USB connection to finish the charge, I simply plugged it into a USB port on the comp and 3 hours later, fully green charged. Next day arrived so I decided to give it a try, red to + black to -, turn it on with the power button, got inside my car, turned ignition to click one, waited 10 seconds and tried it, fired up instantly, no strain, no difficulties, instant power from such a small power unit, I took the NOCO Boost XL GB50 inside after my journey and re plugged it into my comp USB and it had lost approx 10% power only, 20 mins later, fully charged again, it is now going to live in my boot, you never know if you accidentally leave something on when out and flatten your batter, you do not know if your battery is on it's way out and you get stuck somewhere, with this unit I can honestly say I have absolute peace of mind knowing it is with me, and if someone needs help, you are the Knight in Armour to the rescue. I honestly recommend this, Ok it is not cheap, but for peace of mind, it is a bargain.

I gave only used this device once so far to boost a weak battery. Every car should have one.

Flabberghasted how much power my Noco 1500A provides. Besides being able to charge any battery, it also offers great LED-light when it's dark. Complete package and a must-have for every car-driver. Offers a comforting feeling having this in your back of your car while driving far away. You can even charge your Iphones. Much value for little money. Ps you even got a backup when current in your house isn't provided by the grid...Absolutely happy and remommendable.

I have one of these and bought this for my son. They are great. The hold their charge really well and have saved me multiple times from being stranded. They are so easy to use and I use it on a van with a large battery. I originally bought a cheap one and it didn't even work once. Worth paying the extra and getting this brand. Highly recommend!!!

Muy buen arrancador. He tenido otros mas baratos y que al poco tiempo no sirven para nada. Este tiene mucha potencia, he podido arrancar cualquier coche y barco. Si que es verdad que a veces no se si esta actuando o no, las luces parpadean como si no reconociera bateria pero si que esta enviando electricidad.
