Great item and software
I recently tried the Datacolor SpyderX Pro for monitor calibration, and it has been a game-changer for my photography and gaming. The device is compact and easy to use, with a lens-based colour engine that ensures greater accuracy. The calibration process is straightforward and quick, taking only about five minutes for the initial setup and around two to three minutes for subsequent calibrations The software is user-friendly and guides you through each step, making it accessible even for those who are new to monitor calibration. The results are impressive, with noticeable improvements in colour accuracy and consistency across my displays1. This has made a significant difference in my editing process, ensuring that the colours I see on my screen match the final prints and digital outputs. Overall, the Datacolor SpyderX Pro is an excellent choice for photographers and videographers and gamers who want to maintain colour accuracy.

Essential bit of kit.
I'm a full time wedding photographer and colour consistent is very important for me. I have had my Benq monitor for just over a year and I realised my colours were matching the prints, phone or iPad screen. After reading lots of reviews I decided to go with SpyderX. It was very easy to install, very straight forward. Calibrating was just as easy, only a few adjustments and few clicks on the screen. It did make a big difference, my colour are a lot more accurate now ,although I have to say it does give a slight reddish tint after calibration but everything else seems fine. If you are serious about your colours and white balance you probably need one of these. I will write another update after a few months of use.

Time will tell!
As a long-time owner and very satisfied user of a DataColor Spyder4 Elite Screen calibration tool, I was tempted to upgrade to the SpyderX Pro device following a discount offered by the manufacturer to existing customers. The device arrived promptly and I duly installed the accompanying software. However the installation proved incomplete as the "Utility" element of the software initially failed to install and when I contacted DataColor's Technical Support team, the advice that I received in the first instance was not very helpful. Ultimately and after two further rounds of correspondence with Technical Support, I was able to achieve a full installation and the device now seems to be working as it should. In all honesty however, I'm not totally convinced that the SpyderX offers the promised significant improvements over my original Spyder4 Elite! However as a member of a local camera club, who regularly participates in print and DPI competitions, time will tell whether my not inconsiderable investment in the "X" proves to be money well spent. My current uncertainty is the main reason for not awarding the full five stars. Addendum after 6 Months' use. Having now used the SpyderX Pro for almost 6 months, I can confirm that it seems to have delivered on its promise so far. It's easy to use and certainly much quicker in performing re-calibrations each month. One thing I have yet to try however, is run it in conjunction with the open source "DisplayCAL" software, which several other reviewers of the SpyderX Pro have recommended, instead of the proprietary software supplied by DataColor. It would be interesting to see how this software compares.

Works as described!
Great little device. I'd gotten into astrophotography and find that depending which monitor i was using i would get vert different results. This has very quickly and easily got both of my screen within close range of each other. I was glad to see my Samsung G7 (G-sync) wasn't to far off but my Dell (g-sync) was miles off!

Great value for money
If you are into photography, then you need a calibrated display and this does it all by itself. Pug it in attach the sensor and follow the instructions, job done.

A must for correct colour rendition
Have been using the Datacolor Spyder3 Express for nine years now, and though software updates ceased a few years back, it still does the job. However, on recently purchasing a new desktop computer, decided to update to the SpyderX Pro to replace using on my laptop and to set up on the new computer. It does have more features, i.e., measures the room lighting conditions, which the Spyder3 didn't, is more intuitive, and does an excellent job of calibrating your screen. It's a must to have your screen correctly calibrated, even if you think the colour balance looks OK. It's particularly important if printing your images, but even if not, you need to have your screen correctly calibrated - just sharing images digitally the colours can look off to someone else (or even on another of your own computers). It does help of course that whoever you're sharing with has their screen correctly calibrated! Assuming they do, you can be confident that your images will look correct to others (or even on another of your own computers). I recommend this product, and though not cheap, it will last you years.

Does not work with Windows 10 - and poor customer support
I had high hopes for this. I followed the instructions, which were very straightforward, and stood back to view the final results - with horror. Everything had a pink tint. I re-did it several times, always with the same ghastly outcome. Contact their support service, gave them all the details including an error message. They seemed familiar with this issue, and stated very clearly it was an issue with Windows 10, and not their device or software. They re-iterated this several times, and pinpointed it down to a specific Windows update. I was given very clear instructions, which I followed to the letter, and which made no difference whatsoever. After being given essentially the same advice by 3 different technical support people, a 4th person then seemed to completely misinterpret everything and gave me a list of instructions for how to fix a flicker when you plug things into the USB device. After wasting hours trying and re-trying their unsuccessful remedies, I gave up and sent it back for a refund. Given how many positive reviews there are, I believe this is probably a good piece of kit. BUT it clearly has problem with Windows 10 that they do not know how to fix. Update: another member of their customer support team contacted me with yet another supposed fix, which doubtlessly would not have worked. I explained that I had given up and sent the device back for a refund. A received a rather defensive and unnecessary reply stating again that the problem was with microsoft, and that "99%" of users who experienced this problem were able to get the device to function using one of their workarounds. The message finished by saying there were still two possible solutions: a) "revert to the previous Windows 10 Build or b) wait until Microsoft releases a fix". Not sure if these were intended to be serious suggestions, or just an attempt to have the last word. Whichever, I have reduced my rating to one star as a result.

Datacolor SpiderX Pro
The item doesn't come with any user manual but there's a link to a site that can help you set it up. I found it fairly easy to do but as I have multiple monitors the info on the set up software was a not very useful in helping me so I had to google it. All in all I would say its worth the money and works well, just need to use it a few times to get the hang of it.

Effective monitor calibration at a reasonable cost. Decent software. Worth it for photo editing.
I bought this to replace my outdated one that only worked with my NEC calibrated monitor. Eventually the one that came with it would no longer work with the newer Mac OS. This is simple, the software works well and I can use it on a wide variety of monitors. I found this to be a reasonable price and If you are editing photos and you intend to make prints it's a must have as there is no reason to spend 100's of hours on your images if your monitor isn't calibrated.

Great tool for photographers
Anyone getting into photography or anything related to screen colours being accurate. This is the best value for money tool to get. Rather than getting the topmost monitor, get this along with the 2nd best monitor to calibrate and KEEP the calibration accurate over long term. Any monitor or panel will shift colours and lose its accuracy over time. So, invest in this. Pro tip - Use the 3rd party software DisplayCal for a more precise calibration. With its stock software, post calibration you might feel the screen is a bit too warm (6500k) which is normal since I felt the same. Hence, I used the displacal software with this device to calibrate the white point to 7200k & then calibrate which seemed whiter for me personally. Might even take a few tries to get the perfect calibration for your screen or match several displays. Overall, very satisfied with the tool. You can try to calibrate the white point of TVs too but you'll need the displaycal software with white point measurement screen and keep it plugged to the laptop while placing the calibration tool on the tv screen. Connect the tv to your laptop hdmi and mirror the screen.

Fique atento
