Peace of mind in bear country - the brand speaks for itself
I purchased this Counter Assault Bear Spray for my camping and hiking trips in West Virginia, and while I haven't had to use it yet (and hope I never do), just having it gives me tremendous peace of mind when I'm out in the wilderness. Counter Assault is the gold standard for bear spray—this brand literally speaks for itself in the outdoor community. It's EPA-approved and has the range and formulation that professionals and backcountry users trust. When you're dealing with potential encounters with bears, mountain lions, or aggressive coyotes, you don't want to cheap out on protection. The canister feels solid and well-made. The holster system makes it easy to carry and access quickly, which is critical in an emergency situation. The safety mechanism is secure but can be deployed rapidly when needed. I carry this every time I'm camping or hiking in areas with wildlife. It's like insurance—you hope you never need it, but you're incredibly glad to have it if the situation arises. The confidence it provides lets me enjoy the outdoors without constant worry. If you spend time in bear country or areas with large predators, get Counter Assault. It's the real deal. Highly recommend! (even works on two legged predators)

Great product
Perfect for personal protection as it ends conflict by stopping the aggressor or disorients the aggressor enough to evade the conflict. Pro tips as a civilian from my many years of caring full time and only using twice **1.) If the safety ever goes missing just use as a training aid at best and consider just discarding 2.) If you live in a hot southern state DO NOT leave in your automobile during summer months. 3.) If you use partial container clean container very very thoroughly and wash sleeve. **Update** November 2022 had to use the other night while inside my car in an empty parking lot late at night (after midnight) when i did the correct thing and pulled over to use my cell phone and some drugged out person snuck up on me when my window was down. All they said was do you want to fight while lunging at me. I was prepared enough to not only have it in my cup holder but also scared enough to have already slipped the safety off as soon as I noticed them. In the end I was scared $hitless, shaking, and could barely get my car in drive to escape but the person stopped the split second he got hit and went to the ground. I called police they came right out and the guy ended up going to the emergency room not because of the spray but he was so high they couldn't safely decontaminate him and was trying to fight all the first responders. As the police said most likely the only thing other than a gun that was going to stop the guy that night in his drugged out condition was bear spray. Stay safe out there everyone.

Very strong stuff
The coyotes were setting off the alarms out by the green houses, and fearing for our cats, I would go out and chase them off. One night I went out with the cat following me and we walked around the backside of the greenhouse. I tripped over the cat and then in a nanosecond, sprayed a bit of the greenhouse wall about 3 feet away from me and hip high and that alone was enough to incapacitate me for two days and the cat ran away for three. I couldn’t imagine getting a face full of it. Nonetheless besides my lack of trigger discipline, this stuff works great. If you’ve never trained with one, you should buy two and train with one or buying an inert one. You’ll want to wear gloves, safety glasses and all that and you’ll still probably get some of it on you or in your eye! I replace mine every couple of years, or if the can gets dented, and I use the old one to remind myself how it works, and the speed at which I can deploy it.

Good quality
Thankfully did not get a chance to use. Cheaper than getting in the shops when you get to bear country.
