Culina 5 Qt. Tri-Ply Steamer Cooker 3-Piece Set, 18/10 Stainless Steel

We had a pot that was the same size and offered the steaming basket, unfortunately, it was 25+ years old and had an non-stick coating (okay, let's not dwell on the last part, we knew it was bad, but we had been looking for a replacement for over 10 years and hadn't found one). Then we found the Culina Steamer Cookware with Steamer Insert and we KNEW that was the one! We finally got it and haven't stopped using it since! It's perfect for steaming veggies, split artichokes, four pieces, fit beautifully in the steamer basket just like the old one! When not using as a steamer, it makes a perfect pot for soups, stews, pasta and, and, and! It's easy to clean and looks a beautiful as it did when it arrived. We highly recommend the Culina Steamer Cookware with Steamer Insert. It's the perfect size and handles anything you ask it to do. Plus, it isn't non-stick & will last you a lifetime! I purchased this as a lightning deal for 69.99 - almost canceled the order before it shipped (do I REALLY need another stockpot/steamer?) and am really glad I didn't. The quality is incredible and I have no doubt it will last a lifetime, or several when my kids fight over it when I'm gone ;) The rest of my cookware is Cuisinart, which is really nice stuff, but this Culina is a stainless piece of art. It's much heavier than my Cuisinart pieces, though it doesn't heat up quite a quickly as they do...but I'm in no rush, and I really do enjoy seeing this piece sitting atop my stove. I especially like the fact that the handle on the top doesn't get too warm - I don't need a towel or potholder to handle it like I do with the Cuisinart. Again, very happy that I decided not to cancel this after I ordered it - truly a lovely addition to my kitchen. If you like beautiful, quality cookware, get one!

Looks good, but beware of the quality! I boiled water, 6 times. Each time there is a chalky white residue inside. So I did a "test" & boiled water in my old Stainless Steel pan of another brand & it had no film. I think this pan is LEACHING METAL! I am returning it!

Wonderful cookware. Next time I need to replace a pan in my cookware, I'm going to look at this brand. The steamer works perfectly, is large enough to steam many servings of food, cleans up easily, and is durable. Rivets instead of screws, so nothing is loose.

This Culina Steamer arrived in perfect condition and is beautiful in appearance with the design and outside finish being comparable to high end cookware. When I received it, I initially gave it 5 stars but have downgraded my rating after using the pot for the first time, cooking chicken soup in it for about 40 minutes and finding, to my surprise, when washing it afterwards, that there was a rainbow of colors on the inside/bottom of the pot [from the heat] which I really didn't expect and that never happened with my All Clad pots. I am happy with the design, utility, and price of this steamer, though the quality of the base is not what I expected.

Boy, do I love this steamer!!!! I had been using a regular pot with one of those inexpensive inserts. After having a slight mishap where the whole insert did a China Syndrome meltdown, I was in the market for something that would really meet my needs. As a vegetarian, I do a LOT of steamed veggies. This one is wonderful. It is large enough to handle a big batch of beans or cauliflower and yet, I can also steam my smaller lots with no trouble. I was sure glad I was a member of prime because I was lost without a steamer and with Prime shipping, I got it in several days. All in all, a great experience and a wonderful purchase.

At 5 quarts, this streamer can easily steam 2# of vegetables at one time. With the brand name of Culina, I was disappointed to discover this steamer is made in China. The bottom and steamer insert are well designed and impressive in appearance with sturdy handles. The top cover is a safety hazard. The top cover handle is to small and to close to the top for a person to get a good sturdy grip on the handle for removing the 10-inch diameter stainless steel top. During the seaming of vegetables, steam escapes horizontally around the top cover perimeter. The bottom of the Steamer Cookware is an excellent soup kettle.

Beautiful on the outside, as shown. Inside, am not sure it is better stainless steel in the basket as claimed. After all, it is made in you-know-where. This is the reason for 3 stars.. That being said, vegetables taste a lot better than when using a plastic basket in my rice cooker, and this steamer is much larger. One can actually cook enough vegetables as a diabetic is supposed to eat in a meal (half of a 9" plate, per accredited diabetic treatment center.) Like it a lot.
