First Steps (Pathway Reading Series, Grade 1)

A classic! And my daughter is actually learning to read using this! I love that there are parts for both of us to read, and that the stories are sweet and simple. It's not full over the top color illustrations, but neither is it boring and bland with no illustrations (like Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Lessons).It's sweet and simple, and is working for us!

I like the way it eases the children into reading

I love Pathway products. I have used them for years in teaching. I like the workbooks because they do not have a lot of distracting illustrations. The illustrations are nice, but not splashy. This First Steps workbook has spaces to write which are a little small. I am having to work with my first grader to write small enough to fit his answers into the space, however I have been successful with other students in this matter, so I am sure it will work now.

Best value building readers available. My kids beg for these because they're so real.

My daughter has struggled a bit learning to read. She's in second grade and absolutely loves this book. There's a small page for the parent to read and then easy reading for the child to complete the story. It's an enjoyable story with respectable characters.

This book is an excellent start for pre-school reading. However, a book about sounds should probably be used first.

I never received the book. It was shipped regular mail and is not traceable. I have emailed the vendor to notify them and have requested a replacement or a refund;they have not responded.
