Insightful and creative
Hot Comb captures the culture, nuance, and layers of a racial niche that is widely misunderstood and unrecognized. And it is artfully and creatively presented. It is fascinating to me, as a white male, that hair carries so much social and cultural weight. It does. As a member of an interracial family I get it, and Hot Comb gives the issues context - educating and entertaining at the same time.

Fun read
Fun read! Loved the illustrations. Probably better suited for an adult. Interesting depictions of people. It appeared to be a lot of characterizing in the illustrations.

I love it, BUT
This is a great book, but be warned: a large chunk of it is in cursive, so if you are giving this to a kid in your life, you might have an issue.

amazing representation
Hot Comb is a nostalgic trip. It took me back to my childhood, not only with hair care, but with penny candy, money in the bra, my first relaxer at the salon, being made fun of due to my hair texture, and the music. The first story almost had me on the floor. Lots of trauma surrounding hair care for sure. Black hair is a process and not for the faint of heart. I loved this book tackled so many different situations. Some cultures hair is a flippant thing that their life doesn’t stop for. In the black community, it is not the same. Many of us put aside a day for hair care, and I do mean a whole day. This book expresses black hair culture very accurately with no stereotypes. And the ads for products..spot on. Black hair care has come a long way. I am not ashamed of my texture, and am sad that people used to make me feel that way.

Meh
Story line was hard to follow as the artwork and writing is hard to make out with the black and white concept. It's white spaces are too little in the frames I struggled to read this storyline. Storyline is great the artwork is like a blob of ink put too close.Seller shipped on time and damage free. Would buy from the seller again.

Inspiring work
This collection of stories is brilliant and needs to be read by all. Can’t wait for more work from Ebony Flowers. Hugely refreshing artwork and content. So important to have this voice represented in the context of comix industry and beyond.
