Excellent blender
Best blender I have owned and at a reasonable price. I wanted a good blender primarily to make smoothies, and did not want to spend a few hundred $. This Oster does the job. The blade has six prongs, different than the typical 4 prong blade in most Osters. On the smoothie setting it starts out slow and goes back and forth, which is very effective to pull the fruit down and chop it, then it kicks into high gear and blends. It then shuts its self off when the smoothie is ready. Although still loud, it is quieter than my last blender.Nearly 20 years ago I purchased an Oster Beehive blender, its been used daily and is still working today ... although I have replaced the blade and screw on bottom cap a few times, and jar once (I dropped it on the tile floor). I expect the Oster to work just as long.A few things to be aware of ... I believe the description implied it was made in the USA, but it was actually assembled in Mexico according to the box (at least it was not China). Also, the screw on base and design of the blade are the same design as most Osters (although blade has 6 prongs, its the same design in its bearing). Based upon my experience with Oster over 20 years eventually the blade bearing will begin to leak out the bottom and the screw on cap will develop cracks. But, this takes years, and the parts are easily replaced at a reasonable price. All things wear out eventually. The jar is very durable. Many blender manufacturers have cautions about the jar and temperature ... or the jar is plastic on some blenders. The Oster Jar is very sturdy and can handle heat changes. Although I broke one, it was my fault for dropping it on a tile floor. Also most of the Oster jars are interchangeable since they use the same screw on base.Overall I have been using Oster Blenders for about 20 year and will continue.

Great blender, more versatile than I thought!!
I wanted a good blender for smoothies and for pulverizing the cooked beans for a low calorie bean-broccoli soup.I grow tomatoes and wanted a marinara sauce, so easy to add a lot of them, pulverized them and then added to the pot to cook down, it was quick.I use the mason jar with plastic lid (I reuse parmesan cheese have lids for storage) and store in the fridge. Using the regular mouth mason jar with this is so handy to make individual drinks and with less mess; good to take to work for lunchtime.May 2016 The blender is still going strong. I use the reverse action setting the most, the frozen fruit is blended quickly,I'm happy with this blender. I do make sure the rubber gasket is flexible, can find replacements on Amazon at a reasonable cost. There are other blades available if need replacing.Feb 2017 This blender still works great. Love making smoothies, use frozen fruit (no ice) and greek yogurt. I make it in a drinking mason jar, screw on the top and then take to work, super easy, super fast. I definitely got my money's worth. I do like I can get replacement, gasket, blade and jar (if needed). So far, only had to replace the rubber gasket (3-4 times) since I bought it back in Nov 2012. A long time to have an appliance these days. It has all metal motor is probably why it is so durable.Found a handy recipe for the blender.Banana Oat Pancakes (make 4 small-med. pancakes) using the blender: Mix completely: 1 ripe banana1 large egg, 1/4 cup oats, 1/4 tsp baking powder, 1/8 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp vanilla, Oil, for pan Pour onto preheated skillet. Brown (when bubbles on top, flip.) When done, like to add Strawberry Chia Seed jam on top.Strawberry Jam recipe: 1/2 cup strawberries (or use blueberries, blackberries or raspberries), 1 1/2 tsp chia seeds, 1 1/2 tsp water, stevia to taste (if needed) Add the ingredients. Pulse till mixed, don't overmix. Pour into a jar and cover. Let set in the fridge to set up around 30 to 45 minutes.Nov. 11, 2017. Still going strong. I've used to chop up garden tomatoes for sauce. Made smoothies for work lunch. So, sturdy and working since 2012.

Can and Will Blend Anything But Too Loud
This is a really good blender. It really crushes down the ice and it makes it makes smoothies and milkshakes very easily. The only thing is that’s very loud and if you have a roommate, if you have a roommate, I would recommend using it during the day when they’re not sleeping or anything like that because it will wake them up it’s very loud, but it was pretty. It was a pretty good quality, especially since it was used version it already been Bought by somebody else, but I need something that was cheaper and cheaper option for me and it was definitely worth the investment. I would buy it again full price but very loud.
