Great product
This light fixture worked perfectly where I needed it. It was easy to install (even I could do it!), and properly lit up a very dark area in my back yard.

Good light for the money
I own several self storage facilities and I outfited two of my sites with these ligths. I have purchased over ten of these models at different times. The Pros:I noticed a significant decrease in my electric bill after the install when compared with the previous mercury vapor fixtures that we replaced. Additionally the flourex light is brilliantly white and much easier to see then the previous orange hue the older fixures put out.The Cons:Plastic and inexpensive means that they are not heavy duty. They are functional lights, but one can expect to replace these more frequently then a heavy-duty fixture. I have had to replace two of mine within a year. The Bottom Line:When you have to buy a large quantity of fixtures and are on a limited budget, these cannot be beat. I was able to purchase ten fixtures for less then the price of one commercial fixture. That being said, if one or two goes bad or is vandalized, it still is cheaper then one expensive commercial-grade fixture. If you have an issue with my economics and are looking for only one light fixture that lasts for ten years or so, this may not be it. On the other hand, if you want a cheap light that saves on electric and looks just as good as the expensive ones, this Lights of America fixture may meet your needs.

Brilliant Light, Fingers Crossed
Lights of America has been criticized in some reviews. From actual experience one of their lamps has illuminated a side entrance for nearly a decade. Except for bulb changes it continues to operate as promised.Compared to an alternate maker, (Lithonia Lighting, OWP42F) Lights of America has a proven record in an ordinary household application. Compared to Lithonia OWP42F, our fingers are crossed that LoA 9042 will outlast the disappointing three year fixture failure of a Lithonia OWP42F.Faced with increased costs, and suspect China quality, the home owner has enough to contend with. A porch lamp is one thing you shouldn't have to worry about. (Both lamps were installed by professional electricians.)We have good trust in LoA based on experience. The 9042 42W LoA is incredible in light output. Clear blue white light reaches some 30 yards with a beam angle of 180 degrees. Light output seems almost too good to be true. Ensuring an impression of security and quality, hopefully the 9042 will also match previous positive performance of other LoA lamps. One negative, LoA 9042 case quality doesn't create an impression of durability as the plastics have a thin and cheapish feel. Compared to the Lithonia OWP42F, which offered a better and more durable first impression, LoA light output is superior.Amazon's partner, A-Z Lighting Supply, California, provided excellent delivery and a clean in new condition packaging. Some have also mentioned replacement bulb cost. As a point of reference, while seemingly more expensive, our experience with LoA bulbs last nearly four and five years. Bulb cost is offset by burn time longevity but the nagging suspicion that fixtures may have been cheapened to the point where consideration of returning to the days of A-Bulb jelly jars as they cost nothing and last forever has been entertained. File under the joys of home ownership. Thanks again Amazon, great price and great delivery from A-Z Lighting.

Very Reliable Fixture
I had the same fixture that lasted many years. This one is identical to the last one. Works great. No problems. Easy to install.I hope this fixture lasts as long as the first one.

DO NOT BUY THIS LIGHT !!!
The first one I bought lasted less than a year. Set up ladder and replaced bulb to find out that the internal electronics burned out. Ordered a new fixture from Amazon, set up ladder again and installed it. Dead! Nothing. Checked power, checked photocell, still DEAD. This lamp is a real shabby cheap China made piece of garbage. Now I am on my way to the Electrical Supply house to spend a little more and buy an American Made lamp fixture. Stay away from Lights of America Brand. You think they would check them out before they package them....

Bought a Pair, One is Already Broken
Installed a pair of these outside my garage back in mid November and one has already broken by the end of the year. Contacted Lights of America and they request that I send them the fixture to determine if it can be replaced under warranty. I have these lights installed on a timed switch so it would give me 5 minutes to 30 minutes of light to work around the garage or make my way back to the house. With the limited amount of time this fixture was used, I expect them to last a bit longer. I tried switching the bulb and it just would not come on. I suspect there is a flaw with the photo sensor and I will take it apart to direct wire the bulb instead of sending it back for warranty replacement. Take this into consideration if you want a reliable fixture for dusk to dawn usage.

the light output and pattern is excellent and they do usually last at least a year ...
I've now had six of these lights. They're OK as long as you consider them disposable and not too difficult to replace. The fixture electronics seldom outlast the bulb. Having said that, the light output and pattern is excellent and they do usually last at least a year of nighttime use.
