Ray-BanRX5184 New-Wayfarer Square Prescription Eyeglass Frames

These are cheap plastic knock-offs. I could tell and became disappointed the minute I held them in my hands. Whomever feels satisfied with paying more than $10, let alone the $180 that originals cost, clearly has never held a nice, sturdy acetate Ray-Ban frames in their hands. *ALL* Ray Ban products are made in Italy, It takes 3 minutes browsing to verify this. You could get frames like this for $5 in the US, and probably around $1 in China, heck! even the case is probably of better quality!

This is my first pair of Ray-Bans. I've wanted a pair for a few years, but I didn't want to pay $200 for frames. Like others, I was leery about a few things: 1. are these real? 2. will I choose the right size? 3. Do I want 5184 New Wayfarer or 5121 Original Wayfarer. I did A LOT of internet research. I read reviews that proclaimed these to be fake because they were made in China and did not have the same feel as the sunglasses, which are made in Italy. I searched and found external sources that confirmed that the optical glasses are made in China, while the sunglasses are made in Italy. The reviews for the vendor were overwhelmingly positive. So I felt comfortable that these were legit. When I decided size, I started with internet research, but I ended up making my selection by using my old glasses as a reference. I measured them and selected the Ray-Bans that were a little larger than my current glasses. I used the tape measure to determine how much larger the 52mm would be, and decided on that size. In deciding between New vs. Original, I googled "New wayfarer vs original wayfarer" and found bloggers that wrote reviews comparing the two. But ultimately, what helped most on this decision was searching for videos for 5184 wayfarer and 5121 wayfarer. Seeing someone wearing the glasses helped me determine which would be best for me. After an evening researching and sleeping on it, I ordered the 5184's and it's worked perfectly. I took them to Eye-Mart and had prescription plastic lenses put in for $39. I have a complete set of Ray-Bans for less than the $200 price of frames that I've seen in local optical shops.

These glasses are 100% authentic Ray Bans. When I went to get my prescription lenses put into the frames, the optometrist verified their authenticity. I also found these exact same frames being sold there for more than double the price on amazon. I looked them over very carefully and they were identical, even down to the "Made in China," inscription on the right inside of the frames. And Ray Ban does have a factory in China. I love my frames. The optometrist had no problem putting my prescription lenses in or adjusting the frames to my individual needs for size. This is a great product at an incredible price.

Do yourself a favor and order from the Ray-Ban site. These didn’t fold properly, sit evenly, and made a creaking sound when folding closed. They were considerably cheaper feeling than my New Wayfarer’s ordered on the Ray-Ban website. I’m most certain these were knock offs.

Neither round nor rectangular, but harkening back to a vintage somewhat before my time and reinforced by the stems (which evoke an Art Deco buttress jutting into the air), this style just might replace the ubiquitous rectangular one, which in my opinion has overstayed its welcome.

Very small fit, would not buy again.As far as authenticity goes, my doctor confirmed they were authentic, but then gave me a funny look when I tried on these too small glasses in front of her.¯\_(ツ)_/¯oh well what can I do now, I use them at home privately where no one can judge my gigantic head.

The glasses are FAAAKEEE!!! NEver will an authentic RAYBAN pair of glasses EVER NEVER NEVER EVER be “MADE IN CHINA”NEVER!!!Extremely UPSET with purchase. I’m addition to the “MADE IN CHINA” issue, the original glasses I ordered did NOT have these small silver ovals just above the lenses. I am 1000000% sure of this because I would never have ordered them.
