Is this usda certified organic

The manufacturing company of the brand (Karibbean Flavours) is U.S. F.D.A certified. This recertification procedure was carried out in March 2019 where the company met all required compliance details after a thorough inspection by USFDA officials. However the source of the sea moss does not fall under the purview or jurisdiction of USDA or USFDA for organic certification. However, the sea moss is organic. There is no chemical or pesticide used in the growing, drying or packaging stages of this sea moss. It is grown in clean, open sea, coastal, intertidal areas. It is all natural. So, yes it is organic, but not by the USDA. Karibbean Flavours follows all the strict guidelines laid down by the U.S.F.D.A. and has physically done site visits to our suppliers; been out on the boats with the crews to observe best practices being followed in the collection of the sea moss; toured the on-shore facilities where the sea moss is dried and stored after drying. Is this sea moss bleached?

My research has revealed information that Irish Sea Moss is most often red-purple to light brown in color when sun bleached. I have only seen the words "sun bleached".

A Health Food store owner told me it's mostly people of color asking for this but what exactly is it good for/used for?

Is there a way to know the fake from the real sea moss, I'm hesitant after watching a video?

Hi Kirk, thanks for the question. There is a lot of misinformation floating around on the internet titled "fake vs real" primarily from people who don't know what they are talking about (the most dangerous kind). Here's what you need to know. On Amazon there are three (3) different species of sea moss for sale. They all fall under the generic term Irish Moss or Sea Moss. But they are species variations. One is a Northern Temperate cold water species called Chondrus Crispus that is harvested in the summer. C. Crispus has a more leafy flattened look when dry. The other two are Gracilaria and Eucheuma Cottonii. These two are very similar looking with a "tangled" texture of growth. These are warm water tropical species that grow year round and faster. All three species are full of really good nutrients: Vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Some slightly more that the other. ALL are very good for you. Appearances will vary slightly from from one to the other, with some being a bit redder than the other depending on where they grew and how well they were dehydrated. There are some so-called gurus who will say one species is better than the rest (with little scientific support). They are ALL good for you. No one is bleaching this stuff. (Good way to go out of business fast). It is being dried in the sun (or in some cases, some suppliers will use drying ovens) and salted, Which is really to dehydrate the sea moss so that it doesn't rot in its packaging. Who wants that? The problem of "Fake vs real" has also been compounded by some sellers not knowing what species they are selling and mislabeling them with a wrong species. Another problem is when buyers don't follow package instructions and get varied results. If you use too little water when boiling, the gel will be more rubbery and if you use too much water it will be more drippy wet gel. Then these folks go on the internet and complain like an expert that this one is not real. Our species is E.Cottonii.Follow the package instructions for an optimal result. It is highly regarded. Look it up. I'm not allowed to place links here. It's great for your body. Grown in open sea coastal inlets in lovely clean sea water. I have photos from a recent site visit. You can buy with confidence. This is the good stuff. :)

Love this Irish Moss.

I’ve used this before and have been happy with the service. Came well packaged and on time. It’s clean so makes using easy. I soak it in water and lemon juice , rinse out then blend it with cinnamon and add to smoothies.

Chlorine Seamoss

Despite reading previous reviews about the chlorine smell/flavour of the seamoss, I decided to give this product the benefit of the doubt and try it – given that it was an Amazon 'recommended' product. Unfortunately, it appears that the product has been bleached with chlorine to give it a uniform colour. As soon as I opened it you could smell a faint ocean smell and quite a strong chlorine smell. I thought it might be the plastic but even after washing and blitzing the seamoss the chlorine smell and taste remained. This defeats the whole point of using it for its natural nutrients, and I would most certainly not recommend ingesting this because of the chlorine content. I am quite disappointed because I liked the idea of also supporting a local/ small business, however, the product does not live up to the expectations of a natural product. I would even argue that it isn't truly 'vegan' because of the chemical they use to process it. Overall: STAY AWAY! Spend a couple extra pounds on an actual good quality seamoss!

Love it!

If you’re really about this health conscious lifestyle then you will love this seamoss. Drain it for 24hrs then blend with hemp milk, cinnamon powder and Cyrup I also add burdock and bladderwrack powder! Instant effect!
