Should we have to change orange everyday?

This is my 2nd year with this one and I've had no color change! Last year I didn't change the Orange until it looked dry but this year I'm changing it almost daily.

Shouldn't spikes be at upward angle to ensure oranges halves don't fall off??

The orange halves have not fallen off for me. If the spikes were bent upward rain water would pool in the oranges. I find the orioles, and other birds, prefer grape jelly in the glass containers so I quit putting oranges on it this year.
