DR Strings Electric Guitar Strings, Black Beauties-Black Coated, 11-50 (BKE-11)

They fit the cosmetic need of all black strings. I did not like the feel, nor did my buddy who played them on a couple of occasions. I noticed an immediate difference from the usual Pure Blues I string my Strat with. The coating felt odd. I largely got used to it but was still conscious of it. After several hours of play I could tell where I struck the strings with the pick - all the coating wore away.It was a nice experiment to have an all black out guitar - strings included. Pleased to have my Pure Blues back on.

I've had them on my Ibanez for two weeks, playing them daily for just as long. Strings look great on the guitar but the coating has begun to chip off. See the attached photo; the high E string and the G string have received the brunt of the chipping so far. Which is odd because my play style doesn't have me using those strings that often, the low E through D strings more often than not. Minimal amount of pick slides, but a few all the same. They feel plastic-y on the fingers as well. Their intonation is OK. I could have just received an odd batch.

Black Beauties in size medium sounded like a good idea and the price was okay for a corrosion resistant string (important here in the South where humidity is terrible). But what professional string company puts the incorrect strings within the wrong bag? I followed the strings as labelled for the first few and discovered the 1st and 2nd strings in the wrong envelopes. It wouldn't have been a big deal, no more than an inconvenience, except my strings feed through the body. When I unwrapped them and tried to feed them back through, they just wouldn't feed properly. I packed them up and returned them to Amazon.

I can't believe how great these strings sound. I've read that you normally lose a lot of tone with coated strings... Not the case here. These are definitely in my top 5 favorite sets of strings now. Not only do they Shred. But they look super badass. Can't beat it!

I've always used black beauties. They're awesome strings and look great.Steady tone.

These strings look great. hands down, on a goth explorer or a classy black archtop they will really make the look complete.they sound pretty good, but the low e sounds flabby like a lot of coated strings. if you use a lot of distortion, this is a non issue. if you play clean tones, this is a little more frustrating. I personally don't mind the sound enough to take them off, but I think I will only get another set if I want to get the visual for a show or video. they cost double of a average nickel or stainless set and the coating doesn't make it last as long as I had hoped.the coating does come off where you pick in a couple weeks. still looks cooler than a rusty old string, and makes it look like you practice a lot.

I play Metal in Drop C, and these strings sound and feel fantastic. The only problem I have is the coating flaking off near the pickups. I don't even pick the strings in the area it's flaking off, so not sure what's going on there. Over all, after trying several .50 gauge strings, these are the best on all four guitars!

Wow really surprised at how loud these coated strings are I usually have elixirs on everything but these are just as good on my electric guitar for sure if not better! I just put them on so I will see in a month if they stand up to my sweaty hands. So far the black coating stays on the strings and only the strings. Good price too.

These are an amazing brand, they are very durable. My friends switched brands to this brand because they don't break nearly as often, excellent for metal bands or blues and probably everything in between
