LifeProof iPhone 4/4s Bike Mount - Black (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

First of all, to clear up a few things that some consumers are missing. This LIFEPROOF bike mount is made for use with the LIFEPROOF case. If you don't have the case, this won't work. If you have the case and have discovered what a life saver it can be, this is necessary if you ride your bike.This mount attaches snug to your handlebars. It comes with rubber spacers so you can adjust it to be snug to your bike. Once you have it on, it is very simple to slide the iPhone (in the case) into the mount. Once the iphone is in, flip the switch on the back and it is locked in solid. How solid? I'll tell you in a minute.With your iphone mounted on your handlebars, you have great access to you apps both for communication and for monitoring your workout. It is so nice to be able to work Mapmyride, my music, and answer incoming calls when need be.As for how well this holds...I was riding down the Pearl Harbor Bike Path on Oahu. This is a great path that gives me about a 25 mile workout. I was seven miles into my ride, I had worked into a good hard pace when WHAM - I hit a buckle in the asphalt that send me flying. I flew, my bike flew, my headphones flew. I landed hard and went to the ER. My bike landed hard and has plenty of scratches and missing grip tape to tell the tale. My headphones...we never found those. However, my iPhone remained locked in and attached to my handlebars. Absolutely protected and unscathed.This mount is an essential part of my bike now. I love it!

First off all like many other reviewers stated you need to have the lifeproof case in order this to work. When you buy into lifeproof you're buying into their ecosystem just like apple. You start off with a premium case and you can add all sorts of accessories for it. This accessory is awesome.With the lifeproof case my iPhone is already shock and waterproof. This mount almost turns it into a Go Pro camera. I'm able to record video from my iPhone. Its not the greatest quality but its better than you'd expect. However, if you wanted really excellent video, you'll really want to get a go pro. But if you already own a lifeproof case, then this is an expensive alternative. If you're not into recording video then with the purchase of an app your phone also can be a bike computer or you can just listen to music while you ride.So how this mount performs. I already wiped out twice while using this mount and each time the mount never budged and my iPhone stayed secure. One time I noticed I didn't even latch it down properly and it still stayed secure. The best thing I can say about this mount is that I don't worry about my phone with this mount. I know I sound like a fan boy but this product has transformed my bike rides and I am very happy with it.Only problem is that I'm going to be really said when I have to upgrade my phone.

This is working pretty well so far, been on about 6 rides since I got it. The rubber spacers provided didn't work well for clamping to my FSA stem but I used several layers of tape instead and I seems to be holding okay. It was difficult to get the large nut tightened enough to keep the unit from tilting during a ride but after tightening it a few times it seems to be holding fine now.Of course I have the Lifeproof case too (which I really like) and it fits okay in this mount and doesn't look like there's any chance of it coming out, especially with the lock engaged. It goes in and out very easily. Once locked in it seems to rattle around some and the noise was annoying so I added a rubber spacer (in the form of a rubber band) between the mount and the phone and now the rattle is gone.I like using Cyclemeter and Strava to track all my rides, now I can have the display in front of me instead of in my back jersey pocket.Great job Lifeproof! 4 stars instead of 5 because of the little details i mentioned but, I would definitely recommend this to friends.

I bought this to work with my old iphone 4s to leverage some of the iphone apps when i cycle - specifically strava maps and music. I like to drive to the country and go and get lost while riding, so having a map in front is pretty beneficial. Of course, I could have spent a lot more on a garmin or bike computer, but having an old 4s kicking around, and a relatively cheap price on a waterproof case and bike mount, I figured why not. Plus, I get to load about 10G of music so I feel like I'm not completely alone.The waterproof case is:  LifeProof FRE iPhone 4/4s Waterproof Case - Retail Packaging - PINK/GREY (Discontinued by Manufacturer) The mount itself works well, sits fairly flush on my Cannondale, in a horizontal manner. It comes with several sized spacers in case you have a fat or thin stem (or something in between). It stays in place when I hit pot holes or am forced onto bumpy terrain. Easy to detach the case so the iphone doesn't grow legs and wonder off when I park at the store. Basically, this mount does what it's supposed to.

I bought this to use on my motorcycle, which has a 1" handlebar. I needed to fasten it to a RAM mount (to raise it up from the handlebar) so I disassemble the back of the case—the socket—and ground it off so the back of the case was smooth, then I drilled two holes and attached the RAM mount 1" ball with two small nuts and bolts (using blue loctite). The case works great and this bracket is perfect for my needs as it holds the case securely by the corners, locks shut, doesn't take up much space, and allows the connector door at the bottom to remain open so I can charge the phone.I like it so much I bought a second Bike Mount to use on my bicycle!

Holds the iPhone in place without a problem, very solid, if I cud adapt it for my car it would be even more functional. I gave it 4 because the little lock mechanism is finicky when you try to remove it, sometimes I lock it when trying to lock it and vice versa. I'm just nitpicking here I know...

Quick to mount and change angles rotates to hold vertical or horizontal. Quick to remove phone when you stop. Well thought out device. Shame it's not cheaper though.

Very good mount but a tight fit for my bars - Cervelo s2. I didn't realize it only fits a Lifeproof case (obviously I wasn't thinking) so bought the case afterwards. The mount is good but the case is fantastic - fully waterproof. If you cycle in the rain the mount and the case (sold separately) are great.

Love it as the gadget show tested the life proof case it goes everywhere with me and I would reccommend it to anyone.

Bought two of these and work great on our two mountain bikes. locks the phone in place and stays in place through the trails, branches and the odd wipeout ;)
