I feed this to my worst enemy & she loves it!
So I didn't know what size to get initially bc this is listed for large parrots, but my senegal likes to hold her food to eat it, and the small (really medium in the line I think) seemed possibly too small to do that for her. This was for sure a good decision. To preface, my bird may be the grumpiest bird I have ever seen in my life whose #1 pastime is ruining my life and laughing about it (its more of an evil cackle honestly). She is incredibly picky on another level, and its been harrowing trying to switch her to a healthier pellet over the years from the rainbow zupreem she's been eating since weaning 9 years ago. Recently though, I was looking over zupreems ingredient list, and its literally corn, soy meal, and freaking sugar!!! Why is sugar even an ingredient in there???? Anyways my senegal, who once stole a bite of my yogurt 7 years ago, and has since decided I am trying to poison her with new foods, watched me put some Tops into her breakfast bowl the morning we got it, proceeded to scream complain at me about it/growl, but then ate every tops pellet and not a single zupreem. I literally cannot believe it. It can take months to get her to take a single tongue lick of a new food and she just ate this stuff immediately and has had it for breakfast and dinner since (about 3 meals so far). I'm just in shock... I tried to give this hell spawn Harrisons for years on advice of seemingly all bird people and she refused to eat it opting at points to go on food strikes instead of just trying a new pellet for literal survival... I once watched her pick a turd off a perch instead of tasting a single Harrisons pellet again. These Tops pellets smell really good too which makes me wonder if that in part had to do with her trying it immediately. I also made sure to tell her NOT to touch them to ensure she would at least go near them in an effort to annoy me (definitely worked, she ate them while staring at me). I did put most of them into a zip lock to put in the freezer to keep fresh.... this pellet is unbelievably promising. If you also own a spawn of hell, this pellet is really worth giving a shot. I don't know if this will help her hateful personality, but I do think it's likely to keep her screaming at me for years to come. The best advice I ever got, albeit later than I'd like to admit, was looking at the ingredient list on my birds pellets, and if your bird eats rainbow zupreem, wow that stuff is trash, but apparently tops is more tasty thank God! My bird also eats too many nutriberries for treats than I should probably be giving her, and I now believe this is contributing to very hormonal behaviour based on what I've researched lately and heard from countless bird owners, so we are attempting to overhaul her entire diet for something much healthier and mood stabalizing. I've heard so many good things about people switching diets to a Tops and veggies only diet who have hormonal, feather plucking, and even egg laying birds. My senegal ate all of her Tops so fast this morning, she had an extra 10 minutes more to do the smoke alarm at real volume, so I am incredibly optimistic about new diet changes for the first time ever after countless attempts. Photos are of 1. the bane of my existence who is runt sized compared to standard Senegals, and 2. the large pellets in my hand for scale next to the African Grey sized rainbow zupreem pellets. Also 3. Tops in a zip lock (most of the 1lb bag I purchased to try fits in a ziplock sandwich bag. I have ab 2/3 cup or so left in original bag).

I absolutely LOVE these pellets for my weaning babies
I absolutely LOVE these pellets for my weaning babies. I will not use any other pellet as I raise many Eclectus who are SUPER sensitive to any artificial anything. Most pelleted diets out there (even those toted as organic and vet recommended) have artificial vitamins/minerals, which Eclectus cannot handle. I do not believe that pellets are a full "complete" diet and use them only for supplementation. That said, let me inform those interested in this formula of a few things. First, it should be considered the "health food" of parrot pellets. It smells akin to alfalfa, and is very natural. Other pellets, such as Zupreem, LaFaebers, Kaytee, should be considered the "fast food" of the pellet world. Others such as Hagan, Harrison's, and Roudybush are better, but still contain artificial vitamins/minerals. For most birds, those are OK. Not for Eclectus. Being that these pellets are natural and free of ANYTHING artificial, many parrots on a "junk food diet" will not find these pellets palatable. It will take MONTHS, if not a year, for your bird to transition in most cases. My babies know nothing else and therefore eat it readily. You must be willing to have patience and dedication, and yes, you will lose money and your bird will waste food. But, there are MANY methods you can try to get your bird transitioned. It comes down to your patience level. Think of it this way. A child is given an option between broccoli or candy. What do you think they will choose? Parrots are not much different. Also, birds really do not have taste buds in the way that we do. Therefore, it does not come down to the taste as much as it does the shape, size, color and familiarity. Birds over a year of age will be leery of any new food and can take weeks or months of seeing it before they feel it is "safe" to try. If they tried anything they came across in the wild that appeared to be edible, chances are that many parrots would die from poisoning. What many people forget is that parrots are not domesticated, and thus retain all their natural instincts. All this said, give it time! And that can be anywhere from days for some birds to weeks, months, or over a year. But once you get there, the effort is worth the payoff. The difference in plumage, behavior, and energy becomes very apparent.

Healthy & Tasty
My 2 African Greys love TOPโs pellet! Fresh smelling, itโs very healthy for them. I think a little over priced for the bag size.

Surprising results
I was so happy to find a food that was corn and soy free! I just bought a canary winged parakeet from petco. He was on kaytee brand pellets while in the store. I went ahead and bought a bag when I brought him home. I read through the ingredients and was not super impressed with all the dyes and sugar. On my search for an appropriate pellet TOPs was the only food I could find that was soy and corn free. I did also consider Roudybush because of the price and the fact that it is cheaper and much better than kaytee. It does not have any food coloring or major sugar! Tops does win though in the ingredients department all around. When considering Roudybush I e-mailed the company about the size of their pellets because I was not sure what to order him. I did not get a reply but a few days later I received a package in the mail. I am very impressed. They sent me good size samples of two sizes of their food! I received them the same day as I received the TOPs pellets from amazon. I put all of the food before my bird to see what he would pick. He played with them all but the one he wanted to eat was the TOPs (I did not expect that after seeing the reviews). These pellets are actually very large for him so I will need to get a smaller pellet next time. He has to hold them with his feet in order to eat them. He drops most of them and it causes a lot of waist. I did sort of crush them up a little but that didn't help much. For some reason he does not want to eat the Roudybush which surprised me because of the apple flavoring and the corn which I know he likes. So the results are in, my bird likes TOPs. I am surprised and will be switching him over. I really appreciate the samples I received from Roudybush and all the information they sent me on their food. That was very nice. I think that will be my second food due to affordability or if I ever need to switch his food. EDIT:: My green cheek conure won't eat the TOPs and will only eat the roudybush. Smart of them to use apple for flavoring. I wish TOPs would do something like this. Or I wish roudybush would take out the soy. TOPs smells like rabbit food. Weird that my fruit eating bird likes the TOPs and my non fruit eating bird likes roudybush.

Corn is NOT the first ingredient very healthy
YOSHI and Pinapple love this food itโs the same ingredients of the other brand I was using and comparable in price. But because Iโm a prime member I donโt have to pay the $10.50 shipping. Itโs the only other brand I have found that does not start with the first ingredient of soy or corn based and my birds love it.

INTOLERABLE SMELL
The smell is excruciatingly horrid in house usage. I tried it for several days hoping I would stop noticing but finally had to launder and fumigate. I tried dry and wet. Didnโt help. I fed to outdoor birds.
