Q: how good is the extened warranty and is it worth the money ?????

My engine quit the first season I used it. It was under the manufacturer's warranty, not the extended warranty. Had a small engine guy come to the house to see if he could fix it -- he said it would cost more to fix than to replace the engine. I called Landworks and explained what happened. They sent me a new engine -- quickly. I was impressed with their customer service. Sounds like some folks did not have a good experience but I did.

I don't place a lot of faith in warranties. I didn't buy the extended warranty.

Q: The gasoline engine manual specify 15w-40 oil for my desired temperature range. i can only find oil marked for diesel engine. is that ok?

You can do it, but you shouldn't. Oil for Diesel engines is more viscous (less apt to flow) than oil for gas engines. This means that it won't flow through the engine the way that it should. This means that bearings won't get lubricated properly. Use a different grade of automotive oil. Look up the meanings of the grading system to figure out the next best grade for your desired temp range. When in doubt, go with thinner oil. Or don't. I'm no mechanic, so take this as advice, not instruction.
