I became interested in chromium when I discovered my fasting glucose was below 60 and I was tired all the time, especially after meals. I did micronutrient testing and found that my chromium levels were almost nonexistent. I take these with every meal along with digestive enzymes and while it is still early yet to say that all is back to normal, I do feel immensely better. In my research I find that there is very little on chromium and its role in metabolism. Most studies only refer to diabetics and those that are on parenteral nutrition (food through the veins, not the stomach). But what little I have found through alternative sources suggests that we as a nation, here in the U.S., are considerably lower in tissue samples of chromium than other nations, our soil is depleted and the refined food industry is rampant... a leading cause of chromium depletion in the tissues. In my case, as I eat very well, no refined foods or heavy sugars in my diet, it was a collaborative effect of being vegetarian and consistently under a significant amount of stress that caused my body to overly excrete chromium. I think the bigger issue here is that chromium testing isn't routine, yet at depleted levels it leads straight to diabetes. Chromium helps us to metabolized carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.... again in my case, having little to no chromium in my tissues prevented me from metabolizing properly and I ended up in a malnourished state according to my lab results. I am someone who juices regularly, protein smoothies one to two times per day and generally eat well. I thought it was the 15 hour days that were making me tired, but it was more than that, I wasn't able to properly utilize the nutrition that I was taking in. Had I not done the micronutrient testing, I would've never known about chromium. I bought this product because of the quality and the delivery along with the B vitamins. I want to make sure that I am able to absorb and utilized everything that I put into my body, that is the only way that I will regain my health. I am grateful to have found this product and to be taught such an important lesson regarding nutrition. If you feel tired all the time and particularly after meals, I suggest you get your chromium tested and then take this product. With in a few days to a week I was able to eat a meal and not feel like I had been drugged and so exhausted. This product is clean and it works.

I have a history of PCOS and with that comes all the wonderful issues that fall under that umbrella of a "metabolic disorder". I was also told that I would be a Type II diabetic by the time I was 40... yeah, and thanks for that, by the way! :/ Well, I decided to seriously take my health into my own hands a few years ago and really try to moderate as much I possibly could, I wasn't going down without a fight! I am happy to announce that I am currently 43 years old and still solidly in the non-diabetic range. I do this with exercise, *mostly* clean eating (I am not perfect!) and supplementation of various herbals and natural medicines to support the weaknesses in my lifestyle and body. I tell you all of that to help explain why I have been looking for a high quality Chromium product to help me maintain a healthier glucose level. I had indeed been a gestational diabetic for most of my pregnancies, and I was firmly in the pre-diabetic range just 4 years ago. With my lifestyle changes, weight loss and my supplementation regimen, I have seen my Hgb A1C go from 6.1 (pre-diabetic) to 5.2 (non-diabetic). Chromium Polynicotinate is the preferred form of chromium, as it is more readily absorbed by the body and has been reported to have the added benefit of weight loss for some people. I am not certain how much the chromium has helped with my weight loss journey, but it certainly did not hurt. It makes sense that it can help you lose weight, though, because a healthy glucose level is likely to help keep hunger at bay. I like this formulation as it has no fillers, no artificial ingredients, and NO Magnesium Stearate, which is a controversial preservative that is used in way too many supplements on the market today. One bottle lasts a LONG time (14 weeks) and is a great value for the money. I have had good results with this brand and will continue to purchase it for my Chromium Polynicotinate needs.

This product works for me! Having the needed B3 included for proper absorption is a no-brainer, making the necessary combination an easy, 1-pill dose. Thank you for that! Struggling for years with sugar and carb cravings, and post-op roller coaster blood sugar levels led me to research Chromium Polynicotinate. Early on, I had some success with Chromium Picolinate, but it was short lived and just didn't work long-term. I had a successful RNY gastric by-pass back in the 90s, and although I dropped 243 pounds, the sugar and carb cravings in my brain eventually resurfaced, and I picked up extra weight. The cravings have little to do with stomach size; it's brain chemistry that runs the show. Combining the cravings with blood sugar spikes and plunges (after eating carb-based meals that bring on a food-drunk or drug-like sleep, and the potential damage as a result) pushed me to cut WAY back on carbs and dig until my personal research concluded that this form and specific brand of Chromium (Chromium Polynicotinate by SuperiorLabs), enhanced by the inclusion of B3, is the best form for bio-availability, giving me the results I need. Full disclosure: I'm Italian. Never eating pasta again isn't realistic! Depending on the meal, I still search for sweets after dinner (and some of that is definitely habit!), but I'm not totally obsessed with post-meal sweets as in the past. I'm convinced that with time and continued use, I'll be after dinner-hunting less and less. That's no small success for a night-eater that owns a food business and requires little sleep! The OTHER and most important MAJOR BENEFIT I'm finding is in giving it to my 85 yr old father who struggles with cognitive impairment and memory loss (Dementia). He takes NO DRUGS! Taking the Chromium Polynic daily with breakfast (along with the other supplements for his specific needs) is helping control his repetitive thoughts and statements, preserving MY sanity! His mood is also MUCH lighter, making him able to cope with the recent loss of my mother. THANK YOU GOD!! ("Yes Dad, your license expires in TWO YEARS and 3 months...we'll take care of it then!, "No Dad, your "fire" (furnace) won't go out.") I'm also noticing his after dinner fretting (Sundowning??) is vanishing. It seems apparent that Dementia is Diabetes of the brain, so balancing blood sugar in the elderly is paramount! I tried this for a few weeks and noticed a small boost in energy and appetite control, though nothing drastic. The capsules are easy to take and gentle on the stomach. Worth trying if recommended by your doctor.

I was watching a great vcell animation from North Dakota State University that showed how the ATP molecule is produced. ATP is the energy molecule for the body. It consists of three phosphate groups. Another animation shows how the pancreas uses the insulin molecule to signal other cells in the body about the level of glucose, a simple sugar, in the blood stream. Upon eating a meal, the intestinal track produces glucose that is absorbed tnto the blood stream. Due to this higher level of glucose, the pancreas produces insulin. The insulin flows to all the cells in the body and attaches to insulin receptors located in the cell membrane. The receptor has a polypeptide stalk that penetrates the membrane. The stalk end contains five to ten L-tyrosine amino acids. When the insulin molecule attaches to the receptor. an ATP molecule gives up one phosphate and attaches it to the L-tyrosine protein. An enzyme called Kinase catalyses other chemical reactions that attach phosphate groups to other protein signaling molecules inside the cell. Not shown in the animation is that the Kinase activity is increased by eight-fold (8x) by the presence of chromium in the cell. Every enzyme contains a metallic element such as iron. These trace elements can be obtained from sea salt. Iron has 35 ppm, but chromium is only .05 ppm which suggests the use of a chromium supplement. This insulin signaling process then results in adding glut4 glucose channels in the cell membrane. The glucose in the blood then passes into the cell, lowering and normalizing the blood sugar level. The cell can then produce glycogen, another cell energy molecule. Further study showed that cinnamon aides conversion of glucose to energy by a factor of twenty-fold (20x). In summary, L-tyrosine would be taken on an empty stomach 45 minutes before a protein meal followed by 200 mcg of chromium polynicotinate + B3 (Superior Labs). Cinnamon is sprinkled on the food. I cannot say enough about the efficacy of this product! After doing some research regarding blood sugar I read that Chromium Picolinate is helpful with the management of blood glucose levels. I also read that B3 helps to deliver the Chromium to the cells, but I had trouble finding a product that has both included. I found Pure Chromium Polynicotinate Supplement which includes the B3!! One pill. Done. My fasting blood sugar levels normally run in the pre-diabetic range. I am not diabetic, but I do have a problem with chronic pancreatitis after a bad pancreatic episode a couple years ago. I have been following a low carb, low sugar diet for over a year but the blood sugar was still not improved. UNTIL, I used this product. I received the product about 3 days prior to my last fasting blood test. I took it as directed and the test showed my A1C was lower! Within 3 days. My doctor said, "I don't know what you are doing now, but keep doing it." I told her about the supplement and she told me that was a good choice and gave me a little pat on the shoulder. ::smile:: After taking Pure Chromium Polynicotinate for almost a month now I am astounded at the added benefits of it. My thinking is clearer than it has been for awhile, I sleep better and my appetite is under control. The body is a miraculous machine that runs well when it has the proper nutrition and in this case a supplement to "tutor" my body how to use those nutrients. I would highly recommend this purchase! Haven’t noticed anything with this product

Before I praise this product, I want you to know that too much or two little of this mineral can cause problems in your physical body--and of course that will can affect how we think, feel, and respond to virus's and other maladies. Read up on this mineral at WebMD. As to my experience: I bought a couple of bottle s because I had been feeling physically drained for months. I either wanted to sleep all the time or eat all the time. I was irritable, somewhat depressed. Always lethargic and constantly starving. I am not diabetic but my family history is ripe with it. I tested my Fasting Blood Sugar. It was all right. Slightly high--normal--120. My research on the net of diabetes led me to this mineral. I bought a small bottle from a supermarket. Made me feel better but very, very dizzy. 1000mcg. I looked up on Amazon. I read about Superior Labs product. 200mcg. The 1000mcg was too much. I read all the reviews. These reviews sounded better than other reviews of this mineral by other companies. I sent for it. Took one in the AM and one in the PM. What a difference! Been taking them for nearly a month although within the first week, I felt better. I now sleep very well when I am supposed to sleep. I eat only when hungry--which has cut about 1,000 calories off my daily food intake because I am no longer craving food like I was. I don't know the cause of my symptoms--but this mineral seemed to be very helpful in relieving them! I have so much more energy now! What a difference a little pill makes!
