Great looking recipes, whether or not you want to diet
Oooo, the recipes in this cook book call madly to me! (see list after comments) Yes, the author does a fine job explaining the diet, answering questions, making suggestions etc., but I'm straight out telllng ya it is these recipes making me do a happy dance. To my tastes, dieting or not, it's a well-rounded recipe collection ... a good selection of familiar dishes many of us enjoy and a nice selection of recipes enlivened with global flavors. The author has massaged this tasty-sounding stuff into low-calorie servings which can be mixed and matched to whatever rings my chimes any given day. The prep doesn't look fussy or overly time consuming (I thank you!). Recipes are listed at beginning of each meal-type chapter. The per-serving calorie counts have thoughtfully been included there too, saving me a trip to each recipe to get that info when I'm trying to decide on dinner ... and I'm hungry because I waited too long to start. Again. I detest calorie counting, I crave variety of interesting foods, and ... did I mention I tend to wait too long before even thinking about cooking? Jaqueline has done most of the heavy-lifting of meal-planning. What's not to like?Amazon's book sample doesn't include recipe titles -- I really think you ought to see why a number of reviews mention the recipes. I especially like the looks of the soup and chicken recipes, but, hey, judge for yourself! If I didn't think this was a great little cookbook, I wouldn't be doing all this typing, folks. That said, my typing is not up to 100% accuracy, so don't even think about pointing out errors to me -- especially the calorie counts ... all those numbers for my fumbly fingers. I did take time to correct one recipe title I'd typed as "Bee Burger" to "Beef Burger." There's great variety here, but, nah, she doesn't go THAT far!** BREAKFAST/BRUNCHgreek yogurt with berries 129blueberry muffins - 142strawberry smoothie - 147fruity bran loaf - 156nutty banana energy bars - 242baked eggs with ham and tomato - 251all-in-one- breakfast - 270continental plate - 272proper porridge - 273breakfast burrito - 297veggie scrambled eggs - 2982 ingredient banana pancakes - 315banana slice - 303** LIGHT LUNCHharissa spiced chickpeas - 184pear salad with roguefort - 240warm courgette and mozzarella salad - 263greek salad - 265warm puy lentil & goat's cheese salad - 272avocado and bacon salad - 274quinoa with red peppers and broccoli - 278north african chicken salad - 279asian chicken salad - 285stuffed avocado - 284maxican five bean wrap - 288tuna and bean salad - 289chicken salad & lemon pepper dressing - 294bulgur wheat lunchbox salad - 295chilli chicken pitta - 298salade nicoise - 300** SOUPScreamy mushroom & whie wine soup - 115carrot and coriander soup - 116spicy sweet potato soup - 125borscht (chunky beetroot soup) - 134roasted parsnip soup - 139slow onion soup - 197mexican chicken soup - 162fresh garden soup - 169savoy cabbage and bacon soup - 222butternut soup with goat's cheese - 226chorizo and tomato soup - 233lentil, lemon and thyme soup - 133hearty ham soup - 256spicy ramen with rice noodles - 258** CHICKEN & FISHtiger prawns with aioli - 167coriander and lemon chicken - 199oriental chicken with mango - 234hot and sweet chicken curry - 235chicken satay - 244baked salmon with asparagus - 271seared scallops with garlicky potatoes - 308wasabi salmon- 310fragrant chicken - 333crunch tuna bake - 342lightly spiced prawns & vegetable rice - 357crispy baked chicken - 366one pot lemon chicken - 395chicken, rice and peas - 399spicy chicken flatbread - 399chinese chicken flatbread - 429egg fried rice with prawns - 432tomato chicken spaghetti - 434light chicken stew - 435chicken & broccoli in white wine - 445thai chicken curry - 449spicy prawn stir-fry - 456turkey meatballs in tomato sauce - 452peanut butter and lime prawns - 441chicken tikki masala - 456steamed salmon with spicy rice - 468** PORK, BEEF AND LAMBzesty pork steaks with mushrooms - 224quick italian beef stew - 229asian-style stir-fried beef & mushrooms - 267minted lamb with butternut crush - 303lamb tagine - 303grilled lamb & tangy lemon couscous - 314traditional pork goulash - 324rainy day stew - 312beef bourguignon - 359beef burger and sweet potato wedges - 353beef pot roast - 390beef with mustard sauce - 401slow-cooked chilli beef stew - 401sweet and sour pork - 493sausage cassoule - 413pork stir-fry with noodles - 417shepherds pie - 479** VEGGIEleek and olive pasta - 233asparagus and cherry tomato pasta - 260mixed bean chilli - 267multi-colored pepper bake - 293east african vegetable curry - 262spinach & pea rice with paneer - 298vegetarian curry pot - 300bean burgers, new pots & mange tout - 303baked mushroom & blue cheese risotto - 304parsnip and leek firittata - 348autumn vegetable bake - 321

Great low calorie ideas for light days on ADF
Like the variety of recipes. No photos but if you are a regular cook don't need them. The important part is the nutritional info.

Short and simple plan
Short and simple but seems easier to follow than a lot of diets out there. Doesn't require you to give up food categories, so not as difficult.

5:2 with overnight fasting just works.
This has really been a part of my recent success. 4kg lost in just over 3 weeksThe concept of 5:2 diet with an 800 an upped calorie limit is a revelation. Fasting for 14 hours (overnight but not difficult) before a fast resonated with me. I find that very easy to do. Take it to another level and apply yourself a 12 hour fast every day is also simple. I donβt eat or take calories after 7pm. Just Herb tea, ginger, green, ginger with Lemongrass. Then I eat at between 7am - 8am.Once into the swing it just works. Some of the recipes in this book are easy. Iβm addicted to the Thai Green Curry - so is my wife. This book is Well worth a buy.

Disappointing
Should have looked inside the index more closely - vegetarians, give this one a miss. It is meat nearly all the way. What plant based recipes there are can be found in other similar publications, with fewer ingredients and more appeal.

Easy
Thanks, have been using this book for about 3 weeks and have lost about 5 kilos. I do not follow the 5:2 rules exactly but use, mostly these recipes, 7 days a week. There has been a steady weight loss throughout. My wife has made a few changes here and there, like rice noodles instead of rice, less calories. All the recipes so far have been really flavoursome. We have decided that some of them are so nice we will keep them in our meal options even when dieting has stopped. I should mention navigating the menus is a doddle, touch go-to and choose section.Thank you once again, more please.

Great addition to 5:2 Fast Diet
Makes 5:2 Diet easier to do (800 cals instead of 500 on fast days - can try to aim lower than 800, but if not its still ok. Very good companion book. Great sensible recipes easy to do. Highly recommend.
