Why are they shipping with china post??? i thought i was buying from a farmer in washington!

Same thing happened to me! I’d NEVER have purchased ANYTHING from CHINA! I thought I was purchasing from a US Veteran. Sickening!!

Do you harvest the first year or let it go to seed

You should not harvest the first year and maybe even the second depending on how well the stalks look. Do not cut skinny stalks even in the second year. Letting them go to seed will give you a beautiful bed for many years.

I live in the nc piedmont, is it too late to plant crowns now (10/04/19)? the raised beds are ready to plant.

Not sure,but I would think because they are buried at least 12" plus some mulch on a raised bed they should be fine.I live in Vermont and planted last spring crowns were up in a week!(in raised bed).

i am growing mine in raised bed. their roots are quite extensive . you may have overflow in a couple of years
