I wish I had bought I had bought this book FIRST. I wouldn't have needed to buy the others that were a waste of money, assuming you already knew how to draw or well, I won't go into them. This book is a complete book from my beginner's eyes and I can't wait to finish the drawing journey Lid on is taking me on!

I just got this book earlier today on my kindle, needless to say I have not put it down, I'm looking to buy more of his books to help me. I use to draw a lot, and now I'm looking to regain the talent I once had.

I was looking for a book that would show me techniques for getting an image captured and onto paper in casual format as opposed to "drawing". This one breaks it down. Its been a long time since I've drawn or sketched and this is great how to book.

Easy to understand , very knowledgeable. information for a beginner to start with. Can't wait to start sketching as he recommends. in this book. Makes you excited to get started from front to back in this book.

As someone who has always believed myself incapable of drawing, I will say this book has reversed my opinion on that. It explains complex concepts at a very digestible level and in a very logical manner. I think this could teach anyone the fundamentals of sketching. It provides the insight one would need to get out as much time as they're willing to put in, but also is something that one could spend just a little bit of time doing and see significant results. I'd recommend this to a friend who said they were interested in learning to sketch.The other thing I'll say about the actual content is that it's interesting. It dispels a lot of preconceptions I had. The material is not something I would consider dry.

Get a 12 year old English speaking grade school kid to edit this book, there is a spelling or grammar error on almost every page. Sloppy editing severely detracts from the integrity of a “how to” or instructional manual. Book is ok, probably a three star worth $10 at best.

Step by step guidance with challenges to extend your learning and practice. I look through my sketchbook and am amazed at what I have drawn. Inspires me.

It's worth reading slowly making sure you understand the tips tricks and and carefully doing the Exercises. The time spent studying is worth time spent.

I liked the lay out of the pages, easy to understand instructions for a beginner.I think this book will help me a lot as I embark on my new artistic hobby.

Hi,ich habe mir das Buch gekauft weil ich endlich lernen will wie man einfache Sketches zeichnet.Als kompletter Anfänger brauche ich da auch etwas für diesen level. Bei anderen Büchern (vor allem Deutschsprachige) ist man fehl am Platz weil eine gewisse Vorerfahrung vorausgesetzt wird.Dieses Buch ist da genau richtig, es hat sehr viele einfache Beispiele und führt einen Schritt für Schritt sehr ausführlich in das Sketchen ein.Einziges Manko: das Layout des Buches ist teilweise sehr übelst, es gibt leere seiten drin, oder es ist halt nur ein Satz auf einer ganzen Seite. Inhaltlich fehlt dennoch nichts.Ich kann diese Buch für jeden Anfänger nur empfehlen.

The formatting on this book is quite off, often having half pages or entire pages blank.The writing i found was more like having a conversation with an instructor as opposed to reading, which i found for the topic actually works well.Im very happy with the purchase so far but i hope they fix the formatting

Ein schönes und konzeptionell gut gemachtes Buch zum Zeichnen lernen für Anfänger. Fortgeschritte sollten auf ein anderes Buch zurückgreifen, doch Yankonsky greift hier gekonnt die Basics auf und erklärt sie Schritt für Schrittt.
