Has anyone used this for stirring Pottery glazes?

I doubt if it would work. Think the glaze might be too thick. Tried it to mix blue cheese & cream cheese for a dip but it didn't work. Fantastic for pancake or waffle mix along with any other kind of thinner ingredients. Love this thing.

Does it stand upright on its own?

The whisk does not stand up on its own. It does store nicely in a utensil holder with the handle inserted down and the beater up.

Can you use it to mix hot drinks or soups?

Yes I would think so! I beat eggs and batters. It's a handy tool when you don't want to get out a big mixer. I use mine all the time.
