I had a problem with the straps as well. The metal loop stretched on both poles and the straps disconnected. I repaired by prying off the black cap from the orange handle - this took effort to pull the screw through it's hole inside the handle. I cleaned up the hole where the screw pulled out. The hook can be removed by taking out a screw that holds it to the black cap. I melted a hole through the end of the strap with a heated nail and reattached it to the black cap with the screw that held the hook plate on. I applied a liberal amount of epoxy in and on the top of the orange handle and then jammed/slid the black cap back into it's original position. Note: this may sound confusing but once you get that black cap pried off, it's all pretty clear what you need to do.

The poles shafts and tips seem to be excellent. However, the pole is made useless by the design of the safety strap retaining mechanism. The straps are held in place by a small, weak plastic hook. One pole arrived with the strap not attached ( probably never attached but perhaps it had come loose ). I was able to put it in place - it is held by the spring force between the hook and a bump in the handle. After one day on the slopes a hook, as I had assumed might happen, broke. Note, it was the hook on the untouched pole that broke.

I was very surprised by the comfort of these poles. I had been using a pair of aluminum poles borrowed from the local pro shop. I jammed my thumb over the summer and the vibration really caused my hand to throb. The carbon in these polls dampened the shock to the point I wasn't feeling any pain. I was surprised by the difference and completely delighted with the purchase.

Nothing special for the money. I didnt notice any difference in weight between these poles and any other aluminum poles. They are slightly thinner than most.

The shaft of one pole sheared cleanly off after about 15 days skiing just above the basket.I treat and maintain my equipment very well.No idea why this happened

Arrived with one of the straps broken from the handle. There is a little nub that holds them on and it broke off in the bag in transit. Amazon's software wouldn't let me replace it even tho it seems to still be available. Very lightweigtht. Vibrant orange handles and graphics.
