Personally, we didn't buy this mattress encasement as a matter of protecting against dust mites. Our situation: we foster cats and kittens. Between our own cats and our fosters, we typically share our home with between 10 and 12 cats at a time, plus 1 dog. Needless to say, we have to take some pet-proofing measures to ensure that our home stays clean and pleasant and to protect our belongings. With so many pets, it's no great surprise that every once in a while, someone either urinates somewhere inappropriate, throws up wherever they happen to be when their tummy starts to bother them, or somehow manages to spill a cup of Kool Aid all over. Not surprisingly, our couch would sometimes end up on the losing end of such an occurrence and eventually got to be in pretty rough shape. Our solution? We decided to replace the couch with a futon and to use a waterproof mattress cover on the futon mattress to protect it.My prior experience with waterproof mattress covers had been that they were generally hot and crinkly and unpleasant, so I was ready and willing to pay more in order to avoid this. I also wanted a full, zippered encasement rather than just a "cover", to help ensure that the mattress was fully protected. After shopping around a bit, I decided to give this product a try.As others have started, the top of this mattress encasement has a soft, terrycloth type of feel to it, and it isn't crinkly at all. It was so unlike any other waterproof mattress cover I'd ever seen that I almost didn't trust it at first. I just couldn't imagine this thing actually working to keep urine from soaking through to the mattress itself, but the reviews were good, so I crossed my fingers and slipped it onto the futon mattress. We put another regular futon cover on over this waterproof cover, and to my surprise, the mattress felt perfectly normal. It wasn't crinkly, didn't make us feel all hot and sweaty, and it didn't puff up because of air trapped inside. It actually breathed, which again made me question just how waterproof it could really be.Since then, we've had a few "accidents", and this mattress cover does not disappoint. The mattress underneath has remained perfectly clean, dry, and completely free or stains and odors, and the mattress cover has washed up beautifully each time. I'm actually thinking of ordering a second one to have as a backup, to be used if and when the other one needs washing. It's rare that I'm so utterly satisfied with a product, but in terms of being comfortable, breathable, soft, and waterproof, this mattress cover is truly everything promised in the product description.

This is definitely a well made cover. The material is thick and seems very durable. I bought it because the previous cheaper mattress cover that I bought tore and ripped at the corners after some time. Putting on the cover was annoying as usual, but a lot easier than my previous cover. Now that I've got it on, from what I can see, it will be very difficult to rip this one. I think it will last a lot longer than the previous one.However, the cons: I can tell that this cover definitely sleeps slightly warmer than the other one, but it's nothing unbearable. Also, it is significantly crinklier than my other one, especially if turn over in bed on it. It's not too bothersome though, and I think I can get used to it. The crinkling might just be a trade off for having a cover that is made of a much thicker material. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase.

I ordered a full size zippered mattress enclosure for a 8 inch futon mattress. I needed a waterproof mattress pad and this fit the bill as we use the futon mainly as a couch but we have pets and small children. The zipper is of good quality. The cover itself feels like a soft cloth and not plastic. We do not notice that it is on the mattress. We have a futon cover that also zips over the enclosure. We have already had a large spill of coffee and nothing went through to the mattress. This pad is made in the USA which makes it especially nice, no "bad" or unsafe materials in this product. It is a bit expensive but it protects my mattress and is well made. Definitely worth the price.

The mattress cover is just as described and easy to put on my futon mattress. It was also much less expensive than some of the others and I like that it is waterproof and yet feels soft.

I recently purchased two Luna premium mattress protectors for two full-sized futons in my basement rec area. The futons are heavily used for child and adult sleepovers. My goal was to protect the original mattresses from spills, mites/bugs, or whatever. The mattress protectors installed very easily and fit great. The quality appears to be good too. Based on ease of installation, fit, and quality appearance, I would purchase this product again and recommend to family and friends.

Easy to put on the bed and works great. Got it after a little rendezvous with bedbugs. My first cover had a defect and the company could not have provided better service with fast replacement. Recommended.

I have not had my kids pee or puke on this yet, but I really like how thin it is. I expected it to be bulkier. It is quiet and appears to be made of the same stuff cloth diaper covers are made of (PUL) so I suspect it will work well. It fit my 8" futon perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised.
