I received this book about a week ago and I have been reading it to see if I understand the instructions. I know a little bit of sewing but I am not an expert and I am not familiar with all the technical words.I have to say some positive and negative things about this book: The pictures of the finished items are wonderful!! but most of us do not have the type of houses or mansions they show in these pictures. Most of us have a middle class home, at least I do, unless your plan is to make custom made curtains for wealthy people.Another thing is that I am a very visual person. For me is not enough to just read an explanation, I have to see the picture with the explanation. A lot of steps in this book have pictures with explanations but not every explanation has a picture so if you do not understand an explanation that has no picture, you can get confused in a step and you have to try to figure it out yourself.I gave it 4 stars but I think it has wonderful tips and ideas you might be able to use: how to make a cornice and cover it is one of my favorites but it also has about 20 different types of draperies and valances you can make yourself if you understand everything pretty well.I would recommend this book not to a person who is beginning how to sew but to someone who has intermediate experience in sewing.

I am glad I bought this used. While it does have tutorials that are helpful, I was expecting more pictures of designs and fabric tips. I bought this specifically because I wanted to DIY a cornice and there were very limited examples of it. A lot briefer than I anticipated, lacking the depth I wanted. I guess it is a good starting point but I was hoping for more guidance.

Used to make draperies for several windows.

The designs are great. There are good, clear pictures throughout the book, How-to directions are easy to understand. The only flaw is there are no pictures of the final product at the end of the how-to tutorials. After following the directions and pictures for the how-to sections, there are no pictures of the final product. It would be more helpful to see a picture of the final product to get a better idea of what the window treatment should look like when completed.

I got some really great drapery ideas for christmas. I cant wait to start sewing. There is a step by step approach to doing the various patterns. Lots of pictures that you can follow. Love this product.

I combined several books for both ideas and how to guides. Window Top Treatments is an excellent resource for a nice variety of ideas, many of which are classic window treatments, but the how to instructions are definitely worth the purchase.
