Durable and Portable
I have a gas grill and when I want to get some wood chip smoke action, I soak cherry, mesquite or hickory chips for several hours, then put them on the grill grate next to the meat and crank the heat. I also keep a cup of water nearby as the chips sometimes catch fire even if they are soaked a while. Neatly fits onto one side of my grill and is more sturdy than the cheaper grates I have been using previously. One can even take it camping.

Outstanding value
I've taken it on 2 extended canoe trips in NW Ontario so far and it's seen a lot of fires. Lightweight & holding up well. Surprisingly, even the carry bag is aging well!

The Holy Grate
this has got to be the holy grail of grates. The size is basically perfect, it is large enough, yet small enough. Its definitely no tiny grate like some others you might see, this one allows you some placement for the food. the metal is perfectly welded together, and was even shiny when i got it, like it was polished or something. considering that, I wondered if it might be chrome plated or something, but when it went onto the fire, it blued up and of course it is stainless steel anyways. I new it was, but it was very shiny. The gauge of the wire is nice and thick, in fact it is even thicker than another grate I bought, by a fraction, but noticeable on comparison, and that other grate is pretty thick too. This grill is just excellent, and probably the best backpacking grate to buy. I recommend this one. I actually bought 2 because of the free shipping, but so anyways, I have an extra.

Well Built
A bit small keep in mind but it works well and holds the heat without warping.

Grill Saver
I have one of these for camping. I decided to buy two more to use on my grill in lieu of aluminum foil or putting food directly on my grill grates. My hope was that I could wash these rather than have to wash my grill grates. I wanted stainless steel because I didn't want any kind of paint or finishing to transfer to my food. These have worked better than I hoped. I can grill veggies right on the grill (on these grates) rather than in a basket. The heat transfer is better and my veggies get a good sear as does any meat. After the grill cools, I bring these in and they wash easily in my sink. I could probably put them in the dishwasher, but using a brush, I can clean these very easily by hand.

Sturdy grate
The grate is sturdier than expected. I have a Winco 6" × 10" × 1/2" cutting board that fits with it inside the carry bag. The grate comes in at 341 g and the cutting board is 432 g, and with the bag this combo weighs 835 g. Not a setup for ultralight enthusiasts. I'm not a gram counter and can handle a little extra weight in my pack because I am accustomed to a heavier loadout without freaking out over cutting the edges off my paper maps to compensate for the weight.

Camping grill
Small, but light weight relative to the thickness of grill wires so it should hold up. Easy to clean.

Needs to go on a diet
Looks well made. Many grills are under 10" in length and to be placed on a campfire I feel the 12" length of this one is a great bonus. BUT the weight. 3/4 of a pound, 12 ounces is way to much. I have one that is just less then twice the size and it also weighs 3/4 pound. The wire used on the mesh is way over kill and really increases the weight. I was really hoping for a small backpacking that weights in the area of 8 ounces. The outside frame is good but they really need to down gage the wire in the grill screen. Will pass it on to my son in law he doesn't have a weight concern.
