Another reviewer described this bag as "rustic", and I would concur. If you're looking for precision, purchase something at a higher price point. The hardware is thin and the stitching is not laser-precise. It might have been the cold weather when mine was delivered, or it may have been the process of shipping, but the leather on mine seemed exceptionally stiff and dry when I removed it from the packaging. However, after a thorough coat of mink oil (any other leather conditioner would work as well,) it became much more pliable and softened significantly. After a half hour or so, I noticed that the oil was absorbed completely, so I applied another coat to similar success. I didn't notice any out of the ordinary odor before or after applying conditioner. Does it have a smell? Yes, but the smell is of new leather, like a new pair of shoes, and it's hardly noticeable unless you actually get up close and sniff it. I imagine that within a few months of use, its smell would dissipate like any other new accessory. As a college professor, I would describe its size as ideal. The bag is divided into five sections. There's a large center section that fits my 13" laptop and assorted accessories well, along with a few books. Then there are thinner sections on either side of that to fit papers or a tablet, followed by zippered pockets on the very outside of the interior. The lining is sturdy but functional canvas with no padding to speak of, but my previous nylon shoulder bag had little to no padding, and I managed to avoid wrecking any technology with it.Overall, the design is simple and not without its flaws. (Constructive criticism: Put another $10 worth of details in. Use more rugged hardware. Create a thicker strap with leather shoulder pad. Just a few tweaks here and there.) I'll be interested to see how it wears, however any points that seem vulnerable to me also seem like they could be fixed by any leather repair shop for almost nothing. And I may have some components upgraded when they inevitably wear out. But in the world of "good, cheap, fast; pick two", this is a supremely solid value. It looks fantastic, it gets the job done, and it's very affordable. Get one of these while you can, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they're hugely popular.

The bag is visually appealing in its simplicity, but it is just a tad too small. My Macbook Pro 15" barely fits, and adding the charger plus a USB cable pretty much fills it to capacity. In addition to the laptop, there is some space for a few business cards and a notepad, but that's about it. I had really expected a little bit more space than what I got. It might be that the leather needs to flex up a bit, which hopefully will give me a bit more flexibility. We'll see.For the times when I'll only be carrying bare minimum stuff (a notepad, a book, a few pens and business cards, an a tablet + charger), this bag will do very well.As it is now, I'm already on the lookout for a larger bag.Update: A few weeks into using this bag, I have upgraded from 3 to 4 stars. The leather has started to soften up a little and the 15" macbook pro now fits comfortably. There still isn't a whole lot of space, but a notepad with a pen, the laptop plus charger and a little pouch with the mandatory cable stuff now fits.

The bag I received was much lighter than the picture and also had a zipper on the back. Since the zipper was a plus in my mind, that only left the color. Luckily I had some extra virgin olive oil in my pantry. I applied a few coats with some cotton pads and voilà! with this simple fix the bag looks maybe a shade lighter than pictured. I plan to let it sit in the sun for a few hours also as this will also darken the leather. So, overall, I gave 4/5. I got this bag within a week and a half and I live in Missouri, its surprisingly soft and seems heavy and durable, and lastly it looks very rustic. The missing star is a result of the time it took for it to become the way I wanted it, but hey, for the price you'd be hard pressed to find something better.

This bag came in right on time and I'm so glad it did because it's an incredible bag. At first I had to really force my 15" Macbook pro, but once the leather got worked in after the first day it fits perfectly and slides in easily. The dimensions are perfect and fits much more than just my laptop. I was surprised how many extra pockets and dividers we're included, some with zippers to keep them separated from the rest. The front pocket is incredibly functional. The leather looks and feels very high quality. The strap is comfortable, even when I had lots of stuff in the bag weighing it down. I've gotten multilevel compliments on this bag already and many people have asked me where they can get one and what brand it was because they were so impressed with its styling. It's very much a "man's bag," and looks very professional. I use it mainly for work but take it around anywhere I need to carry my laptop and books around. I highly recommend this bag to anyone.

This was a gift for my husband. The bag was the expected size and color. It was beautiful, but unfortunately my husband asked me to return it because the smell of leather was really strong (we could smell it in the whole room) and the leather was oily, so it stained the green fabric inside the bag and also the couch where we left it during the night after opening the box. So I had to return it. I guess if you're not picky and leave it outside in the patio for a few days and wipe it well, it may not smell so much and it may not stain your clothes. You can only wear it on your shoulders, so it will touch your clothes. The quality of the bag is great, but it didn't work for us.
