Instant Blonde Root Touch Up Hair Powder - Temporary Color, Thinning Hair Concealer with Applicator Brush, .31 oz (03 COOL BLONDE)

**Updated w/ new photo for additional color comparisons.** In the photo w/ 2 heads: Top = "the before", Bottom = COOL BLONDE (too light for me, yet still a vast improvement). In the photo w/ the black & white shirt, which is 2 days later, I used LIGHT BROWN. This color worked even better. Great match. One thing you can also see in the photo w/ the black & white shirt is how it does (or does not) color your scalp based on how you apply it. In the front, where I have more gray, I went in with a heavy hand. My scalp is colored like the Rootflage. In the back, where I didn't have as much to cover, I used the small brush that comes with the product. My scalp is super pasty-white back there. I didn't think I'd like a weird color on my scalp, yet now I see that it actually looks better. I'm loving this to get me through a little time without my colorist. I also ordered the DIRTY BLONDE to test the other one in my range. I haven't received that one yet - it might be a good match too. Since it's a powder, I might combine them to experiment. ***Original Review**** Color I used: cool blonde (a bit too light for my hair). I just purchased light brown and the other one (dark blonde) to see if I can find the perfect match. The Before/After image is taken with my head in a window, so this is under the harshest light. When you stand back, it looks totally smooth. Although I didn't choose the right color, it still took away the harsh line. When you get the package, you get a kabuki brush and a tiny brush. Rather than worrying about making the product last (using the tiny brush), I went in with the volume approach. The powder took me about 10 seconds to apply and rub in. It washes out when you wash your hair, so plan for a daily application. It also colors your scalp a bit, which could be great for thinning hair.

I purchased this after looking for another product I had seen on the morning talk shows. This had higher ratings and better reviews. The other ones had a thinner brush and you sort of painted it on the area needing covering. This is a wider circular brush about an inch or so in diameter. It does a really good job in covering your roots. I didn't get it wet so I can't say anything about the water resistance claim. I bought the cool blonde, which I thought might be too light based on my highlighted hair, but it actually blends nicely and looks warmer than I thought. I think the only thing that would make it better would be to be to have a smaller brush. It would make the product last longer for the value. I think the other is probably cheaper per use but this is really easy and looks great.

Fine powder gets everywhere! It comes exploding out of the brush. There is no way to get a bit in the brush, then lock the brush out from the powder so you can apply what is in the brush. It will absolutely color your scalp the color of the powder. They provide you with a card to cover your part so you don't get it on the skin?! If it's this bad, it should be in explained in the description. I tried unscrewing the brush from the powder to avoid the mess of application. They provide you with instructions for this method. This worked better than straight from bottle in to brush but is still messy and takes a ton of powder to have any results. As far as root touch up goes, well, it colored it but the gray just looks like powdery gray and my natural hair color just looks like a powdery version of it. I will say this color would have nicely blended in to my ashy light blonde color had it actually worked to cover or at least kind of camouflage my root area. Nope. I feel like it's using a loose powder version of dry shampoo. You get that same dull look, weighted down, kind of dirty clumpy root feel a lot of dry shampoos have going on. I am returning this. Bummed! I really wanted to stop my search for a temporary fix for my gray and natural color root grow out between salon visits.

I have thinning once natural blonde, now turning surprisingly dark hair. It’s weird. It went from medium blonde to that not really a color dirty dishwater blonde. I started highlighting it then and now that I am older, it can come in super dark. My hair is a joy. Anyway: like I said, it is thinning and I get inflammatory attacks which causes it to itch like a nightmare. So between using topical hair growth medicine and liquid steroids for itch attacks, my color at the top and crown gets stripped faster than it would normally grow out. I also am not a delicate flower in the heat. I sweat and the first place it starts is my scalp. I love my life. So I don’t always want to look trashy so I looked for something I could use between color sessions and maybe to help disguise the thinness. THIS STUFF IS AWESOME. I dry and flat iron my hair. The powder is easy to use, but it CAN come out fast, like some others have said. I dab first to get it started and then brush with quick strokes. I’ll lift up sections on top and dab in there, brush along the sides of my face where it is darker and run my fingers through when I am done. It has never dusted off once applied. Now you CAN and probably WILL get dustings on your countertop or what you are wearing so I recommend cleaning off your counter with a paper towel or wet wipe after using. I chose the blonde color for me and while it is not an exact match and doesn’t work like paint or spray, you can’t see an obvious “oh my god what did she do!?” difference, and that’s good because 12 year olds regularly out due me in makeup application. My second job is PT at warehouse, walking, bending, packing. Last year 12 of our 15 air conditioners broke. The second you walked in you got slapped in the face with heat and just burst into sweat. This stuff did NOT cake up or run. Granted, the sweat made my hair dark regardless but I didn’t worry about wiping my face and finding hair powder color on it. I love this stuff. It makes me feel better about my whole hair situation, which can be really devastating when you just want to look nice.

Don't give up on this product like I did. A year ago,after checking out what was out there, I bought Rootflage on Amazon because it had the best reviews. By using it as directed I couldn't get it to camouflage my roots though and I tossed it in a drawer and forgot all about it until yesterday. I remembered an old makeup trick my Mom taught me to make eyeshadow powder stick- dampen the applicator, remove any excess water with a tissue and then use it to apply the powder. I used the little brush instead of the big fluffy one and...It worked! :-D Not only did it make my roots much less noticeable but it didn't rub off even on my white pillowcases when I left it on overnight. So, the good reviews were right all along. This is a great product.

I am a natural strawberry blonde. I'm using this for my eye brows!! I'm thrilled. I wish I could find more products for natural strawberry blonds. We are rare!❤

I love the way it works. I think it’s way too expensive for what it is and the amount. It is hard to match strawberry blonde hair though and it helps to cover the white hairs that won’t stay covered up by colour alone.

Neat product, wish it stayed on a bit longer and didn't transfer so easy but normally not an issue if just using it on your roots . Im going to try the lighter blonde next time .. find this one bit too yellow for my taste.

I love this! The colour was perfect.My hair lightens at about 4 weeks so great colour match.It covers my grey and my hair is healthier as Less dying is needed.
