This folding survival shovel has proven to be an essential tool for my outdoor adventures and emergency preparedness. Firstly, the build quality of this shovel is outstanding. This shovel ( ENTRENCHING TOOL) rocks! I used to have WWII era shovel (entrenching tool) in the trunk of my car and a few extra for camping and so on. Compared to the SOG they have a solid wood handle Large spade and heavy lug. They are HEAVY for what you need them for and only have one other use as a hoe. When you fold them up the handle stocks out a foot or so. So Although they are great for digging and solidly built, They are clunky and singularly purposed. ON THE OTHER HAND THE SOG IS THE BOMB! Its super duper light, and it folds up and fits into a pouch Thats maybe 6-8"x 4" WOW!! This tool also is really solid when fully deployed and locked. Like not even a rattle from the spade moving tight! With the added serrated cutting surface on the side of the spade & the pick, this is truly a mufti tool that can be super handy! Shovel, Saw, Pick, Hoe, Wepon (Either puncture, or slashing) . pry bar, climbing pick.... So on and so on.. You get the point. THE PRICE IS RIGHT, ITS LITE, STURDY, AND TACTICAL BLACK!! JUST BUY IT ALREADY!!!

EDIT: I had left a bad review of this item because it failed to lock when I took it out of the box. After 20 minutes of fiddling, I was ready to pack it up and send it back. Finally, by sheer accident, I discovered the secret of locking the blade into place (which is the most common complaint it receives, since SOG sends no documentation with it). Once it's unfolded completely, hold the handle towards your body and the shovel pointing away from you. Then grab the metal tube in the center (labeled SOG) in one hand, while turning the plastic knurled collar ring in the clockwise direction. You are essentially UNscrewing the ring from the central body of the tool, making it longer, and eventually expanding it enough to lock all three sections into place. When it comes from the factory, the ring is tightened down onto the body of the shaft enough to fool you into thinking it doesn't spin independently, causing you to helplessly twist the whole spring-loaded assembly without anything happening. Once the tool is properly locked down, it seems to be a well-engineered and sturdy device, given its price point and intended use. You're not going to dig a post hole for your mailbox with it, but it's fine for the average camper's needs or for your bug-out bag.

So this entrenching tool is just that...an entrenching tool. You have to be on your knees to use it unless your 4 feet tall or less. That being said, this tool is well made and will take a lot of abuse when used properly. It compacts down to a very small size and you can angle the shovel head so it looks like a hoe and has a pick opposite the shovel head. The pick can be lowered flush with the handle if you wish or used with the shovel head extended out or by itself. My only complaint is that this thing is heavy. Weighs over 2 pounds. But weight aside, this will probably be the last entrenching tool you'll ever need to buy. It does come with a carrying pouch with is also a heavy duty and should last a long time. The pouch has a loop on the back so it can be secured to the outside of your pack or you can put it inside the pack. So yes, I'm glad I bought this brand of entrenched tool.

A lightweight, compact yet durable folding shovel

Definitely sturdy little shovel. Was somewhat surprised by how small it is. Haven't used it to dig yet but it looks like it will handle the job well.

Es una pala excelente para sacar de un apuro a cualquier persona en un momento de emergencia, por ejemplo palear arena en la playa cuando se hunde el carro.

Op het eerste gezicht stevig en compacter dan andere merken. Uitklappen en vastschroeven gaat soepel. Na het vastschroeven zit het goed vast en kun je er behoorlijk wat druk op zetten. Het echte veldwerk moet nog gebeuren. Hierna update ik eventueel deze recensie.

Its very solid and has two functions. One side is a shovel and the other side is a digging tool but the pictures doesn’t show that

携帯性は高いです。思ってたより小さくて、どこでも持って行けそうです。軽さはそれなりで、普通のスコップよりは重いです。だけど。その重さがタフな感じで良いです。耐久性は普通にありそうです。無茶な使い方をしなければ、十分だと思います。
