I didn't expect to be playing with chalk in my fifties, much less putting it in my hair, but the little girl in me wanted to come out and play. I got the idea seeing one of the pretty blonde "housewives" with just a touch of red in some of her layers, and thought it would be fun to try that, but with something that would wash out and not damage my hair. The chalk accomplished my desire to experiment with colors and I have had a lot of fun with it, and even bought my niece a set to play with as well. The only reason I gave it four stars is because you have to apply a LOT of it to get a lot of the bolder colors to "stick." For something inexpensive, this is a good set to experiment with color, if you want to do something a little wild and silly when you're rebelling against middle age. It washes out easily in one wash, no problem.

You have to use a lot of water in order for the color to be as vibrant as in the photos but my children love it and it looks really cool in their hair. All of my children have light blonde hair for what ever that is worth. I did put some in my hair, which is brown and I could see it but not as good as in the children's hair. It makes their hair really gross and greasy feeling but we just put the colored part in a braid and my girls loved it. When they took a bath the next day it washed right out. One of my daughters is a "toe head" and the green did stay for another day but it was very light and I think only I noticed. For small girls (mine are 5 and 3) who are dying to put some color in their hair for the day this is the prefect alternative.

It doesn't work well on brunette hair color. For first use just administered the project as instructions indicate but couldn't see the chalk color. Then tried washing then dried hair with same result. Tried it on a person with blond hair and it was much more visible. Hair color should not be an issue. If so need to say that the product is designed for lighter hair color.

This isn't so much against the company or quality of the product but the chalk itself. I used this on my own hair (brown) and the colors show very well. They do take around 2-3 washes to completely wash out, which is not a problem. But it dries out your hair and makes it frizzy and coarse.

Great colors but very very messy to use (as expected) I would suggest getting the actual chalk wet and then running it through your hair. I loved the chalk but it makes your hair hard and stiff so I would let it dry then brush through it and then style it

The other reviews don't lie when they say it's hard to use. AND messy AND it makes your hair really dry and not manageable at all. My cousin is a stylist and it's hard for her to use it. Kinda disappointing. Oh well, it's just for fun now.

Don't stick to hair as well as the photos you see in the magazine and on line. Keep hair wet and use a lot. of it and hopefully you are not wearing white because it will turn colorful.

This stuff doesn't work that well
