A revelatory and wide-ranging exploration of HMS Britannic-- her life at sea and on the seabed--by the owner of her wreck. Launched in 1914, two years after the ill-fated voyage of her sister ship, RMS Titanic , the Britannic was intended to be superior to her tragic twin in every way. But war intervened and in 1915 she was requisitioned as a hospital ship. Just one year later, while on her way to collect troops wounded in the Balkans campaign, she fell victim to a mine laid by a German U-boat and tragically sank in the middle of the Aegean Sea. There her wreck lay, at a depth of 400 feet, until it was discovered 59 years later by legendary explorer Jacques Cousteau. In 1996 the wreck was bought by the author of this book, Simon Mills. Exploring the Britannic tells the complete story of this enigmatic ship: her construction, launch and life, her fateful last voyage, and the historical findings resulting from the exploration of the well-preserved wreck over a period of 40 years. With remarkable sonar scans and many never before seen photographs of the wreck, plus fold-out sections of the original Harland & Wolff ship plans, not previously published in their entirety, Exploring the Britannic finally details how the mysteries surrounding the 100-year-old enigma were laid to rest, and what the future might also hold for her. Review: Great book - Great book, took two tries to deliver. 1st package ne Cc er received but says picked up by delivery person. 2nd book delivered to wrong address. My address was very clear! Review: Incredible history book - This is one of the most engaging books of a ship wreck I have ever read. The author is the current owner of the wreck and he was able to meld the history of the ships construction, sinking, and discovery into an amazing story. Incredible photographs and portraits are included. The book fills in any gaps created through the various television documentaries. I great read for fans of history and underwater archeology.

Great book! Recommend to all people interested in maritime history
A great history of the Titanic's equally tragic sister, "Britannic" - She was never to carry a single paying passenger and never to reach New York, during the "Great War" she was converted into a hospital ship and was sunk by a mine - and Simon Mills tells her story - along with a lot of great photographs and plans of the ship. Recommend it to all of you who are interested in maritime history.

Best book on "Britannic"
Written by the Briton who literally owns the wreck, this book is exceptional both in the information it provides and its presentation. Britannic's full story, from inception to her loss after 351 days of service to exploration of the wreck are all covered with authoritative text and nearly 250 photos, about 200 of which are in color. A remarkable and wonderful tribute to Titanic's little-known sister ship.

Greatest book on the subject.
I did dive the wreck in 2017. I really enjoyed this book, understanding more about the ship itself and the author quest with her. Wonderful pics and blueprints and stories.

Probably the best book on the ship
There’s something of a lack of books on either of Titanic's sisters since she took all the fame by sinking so early in her career, so I would place this book as most likely the best comprehensive book on Britannic for most readers, especially if you want to learn about the wreck and it’s important story about how it answers many questions about the sinking. The first half of the book is all about the ship and it’s career, from building and the important lessons learnt from her sisters, to each of the voyages she made as a hospital ship, and her obvious demise. It goes into great detail on all this information, with ship plans included in fold outs, and includes accounts from people on board. The sinking is well documented, and it’s unfortunate there were any deaths at all, as it was completely avoidable, as all deaths were caused by the ships spinning propellers. The next half is all written in first person by the ship wrecks owner, who is the author. It’s a very interesting story, sometimes gets a little unrelated to the ship itself at times, but it’s a great story and very engaging. The many dive expeditions are well accounted and very interesting, with many great photos from the wreck. The search to prove the reason of the sinking and why she sank so quickly is successful and puts a purpose behind all the dives and money spent. Overall a very good book, for people interested the Britannic, liners in general, the First World War at sea, wrecks or diving. Great book
