I’ve been playing bass for a really long time and I can honestly tell you three main reasons why I continue to buy elixir strings over many years, and counting.. 1-They last forever. They really do. From sweat, dirt, and whatever else ends up on the strings they maintain a consistent tone and feel. For a test, I’ve had a set on a particular favorite bass I use and played multiple performances over summertime, both outdoor and indoor and they still didn’t need to be changed for almost 6 months. 2 - They have a great tone. I specifically use them on jazz, Pj, and humbucker driven basses and the tone is smooth with the appropriate bite and kick, when needed, be it driving, slap, or light touch. I especially like them on Jazz bass pick up configurations. 3- They feel smooth. It may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but when you play exacting bass lines for long periods, I feel my finger tips aren’t as fatigued or worn out compared to non-coated strings. Don’t get me wrong: non-coated rounds are awesome but elixirs are the perfect balance of string choice for me, all things considered.

I've had two sets and played both over a year so they are definitely longer lasting than other strings. I did not experience any peeling or fuzziness as others have reported. I would describe the tone from these as warm not bright. Noticeable reduction in finger squeak and more comfortable to play.

EXCELLENT! I love elixir strings. I had a set on my bass for 8 years! Admittedly, only about the first 4 consisted of regular gigging but even still they sounded great until the last couple years. I also only use Elixir on my guitars. You just can't beat the continuous bright tone, unless of course you are super pro and can afford or want to have your strings replaced for every gig.

This is it. These are not the Best in the World in my book. They are the ONLY Bass Strings. The coating does not last forever, but the tone can last for 2 years. The coating feels like silk and even when that is worn the steel does not shred my fingertips like cheap strings. I am spoiled by this product and the Tone is everything I love.

Best strings ever. If only you could buy a 5 string set...

I play all styles including slap, finger style, and pick. I use Elixirs exclusively on my electric guitars and love them. So, it was natural to give them a try on bass. At first they are very "zingy" to me with a lot of high end. This smoothed out quickly and I loved the feel and tone, especially the quiet slides! However, after 3-4 weeks (just as they were broken in from a tone perspective) I started to notice that the E and A strings had the coating starting to peel off giving them a "furry" appearance. It did not seem to affect tone, but it was annoying having the coating flaking off. After a lot of searching I settled on DR Sunbeams. Similar feel to the Elixirs, just not as slippery. Also not as zingy out of the box, but still have nice, smooth low end. I will keep using Elixirs on my guitars but not on my basses.

Jag vet att detta är subjektivt men efter att ha spelat bas i över 40 år så är detta mina favoritsträngar. De behåller klangen jättelänge. Därmed är dom per spelad timme faktiskt billiga. Väldigt snälla mot fingrarna är dom också.

Es gibt Saiten die besser klingen, nur halten sie nicht lange. Spätestens nach 2 Wochen (bei ca. 3h Spiel pro Tag) klingen ALLE unbeschichteten Saiten völlig miserabel bei meiner persönlichen "Handschweiß-Situation". Elixir-Saiten hatte ich schon mehrere Jahre auf einem Bass und sie klangen immernoch wie gerade vor 2 Tagen aufgezogen. ....eine wunderbare Erfindung!

Best strings you can buy ! No more muddy dull notes. No more boiling strings back to life ! No need to keep buying new sets of strings to get back that new crisp tone. Why buy any other brand ?
