This book is exactly what I was looking for.

I am gathering information on decorative wrought ironwork of the 17th 18th and 19th centuries. I was aware of the original book by Contet but this was unavailable. So the Dover publication was the alternative option. Interesting picture format, lacks descriptions of the illustrations, which would be of help, but has been useful in reviewing design and constructional features of French Ironwork with those seen in Britain from the same period. Good for this and reference purposes.
