Beautiful salt lamp and is very bright if you choose. I love the touch switch with dimming capabilities and it’s worth the upcharge to purchase this option.

I've been wanting one of these lamps for a long time. I promised myself as soon as the pricegot within my range, it would be mine. So many people had good things to say about the WBM brandas well, I kept looking at those lamp options. I am SO glad that I bought it.It arrived today. The box had a tear in the lid. The lamp had a chunk broken off of it as well.(A fairly substantial piece, yet I did not feel it mattered enough to return the lamp. See photos.)The lamp is MUCH heavier than I had expected, so that was a surprise. You would definitely not want toplace this where it could be knocked off or tipped over easily, or over a glass shelf. In our case, wehave curious cats, so its final place will need to be where the cats cannot rub on it and tip it over orknock it off onto something else.The base is very sturdy and looks nice. Mine is a medium brown tone and would fit in about any décor.I love the natural look of the lamp. (I have photos of the lamp both on and off - please check the additionalphotos in the item description.) I really look forward to seeing how it looks at night in a dark room.Some of the things in the tiny print in the usage manual include not using it outside, and to always use aplacemat or coaster due to the salt "sweating" and possibly damaging furniture. Right now, mine is on a surfacethat won't matter, but it is worth mentioning, in case you might have plans to place it on a good end table or bookcase.In my case, this is going to be in my bedroom, and I already have an orange bedspread, so it fits right in.However, I would love this no matter what colors I had in my room.The height and size varies naturally, so no two lamps will be alike. Mine is approximately 8.25" tall (includingthe base), and fits well into the bedroom. It seems to be about 4.5" wide. I love all the natural crags and crevacesof the lamp. The backside of mine is flat, but that's okay too.I am using the original night light (which is replaceable either to change colors or replace a burned out light), andthe lamp gives off a very pleasant orange/peach glow. I like just looking at it too, and will probably stare at it alittle more in the dark! Ha!As far as freshening the air with the negative ions - it is too soon to tell, so I'll update my review once I feel we'vehad time to feel a difference. Our bedroom is not huge (maybe 10x11), so 2-3 weeks should be enough time to feel any breathingdifferences. Both my daughter and I have asthma and allergies. The cats are in and out of here all day long as well, soanything it can do to help is going to be great. I've read both good and bad about the negative ion thing and asthma, soI have placed it away from where my head will actually be in bed.Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, and will probably be buying more as the money allows. The look alone is enoughto please me, and I do hope the salt lives up to the claims on the air freshening.UPDATE AUG 2011:We now have THREE of these lamps. Yes, they seem to do that much good for the air quality.We have a very small place, and despite changing the filters monthly, is the most dusty place in whichI've ever lived. Since using these lamps, I no longer experience that burning in my sinuses that I had before.Each lamp received has been very different, with the last one being the lightest in color.However, as long as they are all a chunk of the salt, and they do their job, I can live with that.I want to get a smaller one for our bathroom as well.NOTE: When replacing the bulbs, they use a bulb just like a Christmas tree light. HOWEVER - most holiday lightsare only 4 watts. You will NOT get the air purifying effect with that - it will be a decorative light only. Thesalt has to get warm to help filter the air, and that only happens with a 15-watt bulb. They are available in2-packs at WalMart, and I am sure many other places. Just check on your wattage if your lamp does not seem to bedoing much.

I purchased 3 of these lamps to give as gifts, and after unboxing and using one in my home, I think I'll be keeping all 3. I love the soft amber glow provided by the lamps, and the adjustable intensity of the light fixture offers great flexibility in how these lamps can be used. At its highest setting, I can easily, and comfortably read by the lamp's light. A great alternative to traditional lamps!Upon unboxing I was unimpressed. It's a rock... and not terribly pretty with a dusty, light-brown appearance. Really heavy, this lamp isn't something you'd want to drop on your foot or place on an unstable table so that it might tip over and hit the floor. I get the impression the crystal salt would break apart fairly easily, and warnings on the box say to keep away from moisture and have a placemat under it. Another reviewer mentioned having turned off her lamp (living in a humid climate) and coming home to find a puddle underneath the lamp, as though it had attracted water! She said the problem is solved by keeping the lamp on 24/7. So no putting it in the bathroom around steamy showers where it may start to break down over time and dribble on your tabletop!The wood base is adequate, but not really pretty either. This item literally 'shines' when illuminated from within.As for its air-purifying properties, I'm not sure. I find it tough to wrap my head around the idea that positive and negative ions are doing battle in an attempt to clear my sinus', but I if they are, I hope the Himalayan Natural Crystal Salt wins!Either way, for less than twenty dollars each, I'm really happy with my beautiful purchases, and would recommend them to others who want to bathe a room in amber light. I feel good just looking at it, and that's worth a lot.UPDATE: 10/8/13I've enjoyed two of these in my home for some time now, and continue to enjoy soft, ambient light from them.One of the dimmer switches did fall apart with light use however, which was disappointing. Luckily it's easy to get a replacement cord at a local craft store or online.I am dropping my star review one star to reflect this lack of durability for that component.

I didn’t do too much research but it seems that from what I do know that this is an authentic salt lamp. It’s very calming for my desk and I have it on for 8 hours a day. I have a pothos plant growing on a stand next to it and she loves the light! With the dimmer controls, you can adjust the brightness and I find that full strength is the best.
