A good overview of the subject with many excellent photos. I would have liked more construction details done in close up views but over all a good starting volume for the collector.

This one's a bit dated now, but it's still a great source of basic information on Imperial German uniforms and helmets. Until somebody steps up and does something better (I haven't seen it yet), there's really not another book out there that illustrates and breaks down the evolution and details of the German uniform any better. Until something else comes along, if you're new to collecting Imperial German militaria, you need this book. Actually, any collector of Imperial German militaria should own it, even if it gets bettered eventually, it will always be a "go-to" source of information. Not extremely heavy on details, but excellent for identifying what particular items are.

This early primer on Militaria contains excellent pictures on a wide diversity of items from postcards, uniform studies, pouches, selected headgear and helmets to illustrate the various periods from the Napoleonic period to WWI.Targetted at the general collector on militaria and antiquarians, it serves its purpose admirably although there are now other more specialised publications focussing in depth on specific areas.

This book is filled with useful information . It has excellent text and plenty of period photographs, coupled with photo's of every type of headgear worn by the Imperial German Military . This book is a must for anyone interested in this period of history , collector and historian alike.
