Great concept, OK delivery
My almost 3 year daughter is dino-obsessed and not so veggie obsessed so this is a great book for her. I would give this book 4 stars if the author had edited just a bit better. It comes across as a first draft and I hope I am not seeming harsh in case she reads these. Just because it is a children's book is no reason for laziness. Some of the sentence structure just does not make sense. I see this often in children's books. Authors throw in a word that is far-fetched and out of place. The kids won't know or will they? Most likely, they will. Even if a child does not understand the exact meaning of a word, they do understand syntax and when something does not belong or 'feel' right, it ruins the flow of a story and it makes reading less fun for parents. And then we don't want to read it anymore. Sometimes the story will need to be re-worked completely but it will be a better product in the end and might get 5 stars. Or be like Dr. Seuss and make up a word every now and then and get some giggles from our beginning readers/talkers. The artwork is bold and bright.

Great Story, Plus a Lesson About Veggies
This story is short and cute, just like the little kids it is intended for. In "My Dinosaur is Scared of Vegetables" by Lily Lexington, Jack's pet dinosaur is afraid to eat vegetables. In the beginning we find Jack and his dinosaur hiding in a closet, with the dinosaur whimpering and sucking his thumb because it is dinner time. Neither of them wants to eat their vegetables. Jack explained why he refused to come to dinner, but his mother sent the dinosaur to bed, and Jack along with him. Jack mumbled that he didn't care if he never ate again. The next morning Jack and his dino went down for breakfast, looking forward to the day's baseball game. But instead of his usual breakfast, Jack found only vegetables on the table! Jack's dinosaur ran and hid under a table in the family room, while Jack's mom tried to get him to eat his vegetables. But Jack still refused, claiming that his dinosaur was afraid. So Jack's mother took them to the baseball game. Once there, the dinosaur fell asleep and Jack played terribly. Back at home, Jack's mother decided to have a serious talk with the dinosaur, outside. After the talk, Jack's mom came in and told Jack that she and his dinosaur had figured out why Jack played so poorly that day: he was lacking the vitamins in the vegetables he refused to eat!Jack's mother handed him a carrot. To Jack's surprise, his dinosaur did NOT run and hide. He actually encouraged Jack to take a bite. When he did, he was surprised to find the carrot tasted pretty good after all. Even his dinosaur had agreed to try broccoli and peas, and from then on Jack always ate his vegetables. This story is written in rhyme, with large, attractive graphics on each page; just the combination toddlers and pre-schoolers most enjoy. This tale is a clever, cohesive story with a plot, a purpose, and appeal. Your youngster is sure to enjoy having you read this story to him; he might even eat his vegetables!

Good message
I got this book for free after seeing it on a free book alert. I thought that my 5 year old would like it and I wanted to convey the message about why eating veggies is good for you. I was familiar with the author as we already have "My dad is a superhero", "Luna, the night butterfly", " a firefly tale", "the little toy unicorn, "the little duck and the great big pond", and "the day lady Lost her spots" in our reading rotation. My daughter liked the book and I would recommend it to others.

wonderful book to use in helping to teach children why it is important to eat vegetables
What an adorable picture book with a strong message!Jack and his big, red dinosaur do not like vegetables. At all. They hide in the closet. They hide under the living room table. They go to bed with no dinner. They eat no breakfast in their refusal to eat vegetables. The dinosaur is scared of vegetables, of course! As a result, they both don’t fare so well the next day. The dinosaur is sleepy and Jack is slow at his game. After the not-so-good day, Mom has a tête-à-tête with the dinosaur and they come to an agreement about vegetables. Mom explains that vegetables have vitamins that our body needs to function and do well. This is a wonderful book to use in helping to teach children why it is important to eat vegetables. It is a nice segue into a nutrition lesson.

the level of detail on the graphics is poor and the text is often disconnected from the text
Collection of several stories. First is OK, others are not well written or illustrated. This has the issue many of these books have, the level of detail on the graphics is poor and the text is often disconnected from the text, makes it difficult for little ones to follow. Add on that the images are small part of the page, text a small part, and then an equal amount of white space, really poor formatting.

My Dinosaur is Scared of Vegetables
My Dinosaur is Scared of Vegetables by Lily LexingtonIllustrated very colorful children's book about how Jack's dinosaur does not like or eat vegetables. One night when they refuse they just go to bed.Next morning there is no breakfast at the table, but last night's vegetables still waiting to be eaten. The dinosaur ran to hide under the living room table, away from the vegetables. They get in the car and go to the ball game.He had lost the game because he was so slow and Mom talked to the dinosaur and they figured out why he was slow.they agreed that he needed to eat his vegetables, every day.Good lesson.End of the book shows other books by the same author.

Funny and cute
The dinosaur sure has character in the drawings. This is just about the cutest dinosaur pictures I've seen without making them all pink and fluffy. Most of the rhymes are pretty easy for kids to follow:"Jack, in the closet, was hiding from Mom.His dinosaur whimpered and sucked on his thumb."On a side note, I was rooting for the anti-vegetable agenda till the end when dinosaur apparently had a side deal with mom. He should have stayed the course! Just kidding.Sweet, short story. Might look a bit better on the page if the text were to be centered but it's not a problem at all.

A Great Success!
I used this book for a small project in Uni. I'm doing a Primary teaching course and we had to find any children's book and find a mathematical topic inside. My fellow students loved this book, mainly because of the rhyming inside and I was able to complete the set by using the mathematical topic of finding different shapes throughout the story.I'm very glad I purchased this book, its child appropriate and refreshing, not like anything I've ever seen before in children's stories.

Good read but disappointing illustrations
The story was good but I was disappointed with the quality of illustrations and felt they are rather an outdated style

Great, persuasive book
Clever way to persuade kids to eat veg. Transfer the blame onto a dinosaur, but also explain the science around why veg is important. Love the psychology!

Great book
Our little boy loves this book and to be honest we quite enjoy reading it. It is a great little story and could also be used to encourage children to eat veggies. We enjoyed the book so much that we then did a search for other books by the same author.
