Susan Elizabeth Phillips is the most amazing smart and talented author I have read.
I've read Susan Elizabeth Phillips books for years and she never disappoints in any of her books. I have a list of read only authors and she is at the top of the list. I've met her several times and she is a smart and funny as her books are.

Undoubtedly one of the best books I've read!
Ms Phillips story telling talent is front and center on every page of this story. She left me reeling between compassion and dislike for each of her carefully layered characters and yet left me loving every one of them, bar one (who will be obvious to anyone reading this book.) Following Honey Moon's journey from ragtag amusement park worker to child tv star to woman and back to amusement park owner was one heck of a roller coaster ride.I think we all need a Black Thunder in our lives.

Heart-jerking
Susan Elizabeth Phillips always hits a home run. I have reread almost all her books, but this was my first reread of this one. She asked on her Facebook page which of her heroines her readers most admired (or wanted to be). Honey Moon was named most often so I had to go back and experience her again. You should too.

A favorite story from my favorite author
I just finished reading HONEY MOON for the third time. Of the 23 Susan Elizabeth Phillips books I own and have read and reread, HONEY MOON (copyright date @1983) may start a wee slower than her others, but I only mention that so you will be sure to read Honey's story and let it touch your heart.

Even better the second time around
I first read this book when it came out in 1993, right before my sophomore year of college. I had no idea when I started it that its characters would stick with me so long. This morning, something reminded me of this story, and I googled what I could remember of it to find it on Amazon. I just reread this is one sitting, and it was even better the second time around. Looking at these characters through more mature eyes, I have even more respect for how well they are written. 27 years later, this story holds up. It's not your typical romance, but the story and characters are so real that you are transported to their world.

Finally, a character who grows & changes as she finds true love
An older book of Phillips. Very good. It has romance, it's tender & emotionally strong. The best parts are how a fairly unloved feisty 16 year old pushes to help her family keep their amusement park going. Along the way she becomes a renown wealthy TV star. So it's a rags to riches thing as well. Worst parts for me were an abuse like rear end slapping by who she thought her father figure was & who she ends up falling madly in love with, altho he's far older. Also how she's shunned by the sexy co star she has a young crush on. He has his own tortured past. But they meet up again years later when both are down. It's an emotionally moving book I recommend. Honey Moon stays with you. It's a great journey of her many changes, maturity, passions & growth. Read it if you can!

Phillips At Her Best
There are two heroes in this book, and both of them will haunt you for years to come. Two men with completely different personalities, but each with compelling emotional depth. And both are *equally* heroic. Anyone who writes fiction must know how difficult this is to accomplish with one hero, let alone two. But S.E.P does it well!I fell in love with them, cried with them, laughed with them and I feel like I've been on an emotional rollercoaster. Dash Coogan and Eric Dillon were more than remarkable. The blurb on the back of the book sums them both up so well: "Dash Coogan ... the last of the movies' cowboy heroes, trapped on a screen too small to contain a legend. Eric Dillon ... Hollywood's bad boy, whose dark, seductive appeal and blazing talent hid a painful secret that has scarred his soul."And the title character ... well, what can I say? She was simply extraordinary. Watching her grow from a child into a woman was a sight to behold, something that's also hard to pull off in fiction. But, S.E.P. does it with sensitivity and flair. It's a rare book that can make me cry, and cry I did. Thank you S.E.P. for giving me such a rewarding read.

Tear jerker!
This is a beautiful story. Honey moon is a scrappy little thing that goes through all the stages of growing up in this book. I must admit this book gets me every time I read it. Its definitely a tear jerker at some points. Would 100% recommend.

excellent
Thoroughly enjoyable read. Had everything in it. Romance ,true love , heart break and a few unsavoury topics too. A great read not afraid to deal with awkward topics too.

An emotional roller coaster...
...sorry for the pun.SEP addresses some very challenging issues with great sensitivity. Although the coming together of the two main characters is signaled early on, the twists and turns through the years keep the reader involved and are entirely credible. One of my favourite SEP books.

Nice story but lacked humor
Your average story where you know from beginning how it will end. So it lacked surprises and humor. There weren't any funny scenes where I laughed. A disappointment, especially after "Ain't She Sweet."
