Eee-O-11: The Best Of The Rat Pack

Dissappointed that CD case was cracked when received

No doubt Capitol intended this album to be the proverbial bucket of cold water in the listener's face. It is, and it works. From the rousing Sinatra opener, through Dean Martin's ultimate lounge hit to a grin-inducing 'Sam's Song' by Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., Eee-O-11 is a selection of pure fun. Probably the best 1960s party album in recent memory.Is this essential Sinatra? All of these songs are available elsewhere, and Dean must have performed 'Volare' hundreds of times. It is a great set for those who want to sample the less serious side of all three singers in one easy package, and each was a talent in his own right. If the bombast gets a bit out of hand ('I'm Gonna Live 'til I Die' must be the loudest thing Sinatra ever recorded, even if it is riveting), there are some real treasures here as well -- especially among the Sinatra numbers. 'Witchcraft' and 'The Lady is a Tramp' have been released at least five or six times in the past decade, but somehow when you're listening to these guys having a ball with a string of uptempo tunes, the ice melting in your glass, you don't mind paying for the privilege of owning maybe just one more CD with a few familiar songs.

So fantastic is the strength of Frank, Sammy, and Dean-o's performance, that in an audio only recording, you can practically see the whole show in your mind. My wife originally bought this for me as part of the two disc set with Eee-O Eleven as they advertised it on TV years ago for a birthday present, and this disc was by far my favorite. The jokes are still hillarious all these years later, and the chummy banter between these guys is the icing on the cake of their performances. If you want to call yourself a true fan of the Rat Pack, this is a must have for your collection. If you are only just discovering an interest in their music, this is a prime example of their live show at the height of their careers.

Like all these tunes. Watched the movie. Then bought this CD. Not disappointed.

Luv this album hard to find but worth it

I bought this for the title song (after finally seeing Ocean's 11) and would have been happy if EEE-O-11 was the only good song on the CD, but they are all winners. I know many of Frank and Dean's songs, but am not as familiar with Sammy's work, which turned out to be a very pleasant surprise (his "Shadow" duet with Frank is classic Rat Pack). Sinatra's "Mr. Success" was also new to me, and it is now on each of my favorite play lists. A really fun CD.

A compilation of studio recordings by Messrs. The Rat Pack, (aka Frank, Dean and Sam) this irrepressibly upbeat CD is a fine intro to those of us (not me) too young to remember The Boys in their hey-hey days, and a gift of memory to those who do (including me).Standards from The Rat Pack catalogue round out most of this disc, topped by Sammy Davis Jr.'s beautiful blues rendition of the original OCEAN'S ELEVEN theme song. Enjoy!So put the top down and go cruising. It's a cool day inside, pallie.

I like dvds featuring Sammy, Dean and Frank! These guys had such WONDERFUL voices, not to mention the comradery between thethree. Especially at a time when there was a lot of "segregation" at the time. But for the money, this dvd is DEFINITELY worth it!

The clan at their best you can't beat them

I'm of the younger generation so unfortunately wasn't around when these guys were performing. However, this album is absolutely fantastic, and it's obvious that effort has been put into ensuring excellent sound quality. Buy it, you won't regret it!
