Do these work on both stranded and solid wire?

They only work on stranded wire.

Is this the best size for working inside cars (stereo, reverse cam, etc)?

Yes. These uses typically use 18 gauge to 26 gauge wire

Can these be used for outdoor connections?

You can use them outdoors but they are not water proof so water can leak in and cause corrosion. One way to stop or limit this is to attach the wires and then apply silicone or other material to the ends. I really like using this connection for wiring aftermarket stereos. It makes a really strong attachment between wires which is great a reducing shorts and other electrical problems and can be removed / reused if you modify your system.

Are these the connectors that connects like a T junction? Need to connect to a live wire without splicing or stripping it but cant see in picture.

The connectors in the picture require about 1/4" of bare wire to insert in each end so it is like a splice and it requires stripping the wire. Not sure your application but these will not allow the 2 wires to come apart and do not require crimping. They hold the wire like a banana plug (for speakers)
