It will work with a phone case.
I just had to sand down the top tab about halfway. If you’re looking at it, there’s a little arrow on the top tab. I sanded it down until I just took off the point of the arrow. And my phone with case works in there just fine.

Pretty cool
When first opening I thought it wouldn’t be that great, kinda seemed cheaply made, but it is pretty nice. It’s got a little fan in it to keep your phone from overheating. I was using two triggers & they worked fine for a little but broke but this is better I think.
