"The essential guide for people serious about setting up a commercial, cold-water aquaponic system." โDr. Daniel Baker, Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Vancouver Island University Profitable cold-water fish and vegetable production. Join the aquaponic farming revolution! Built around a proven 120' greenhouse system operable by one person, The Aquaponic Farmer is the game changer that distills vast experience and complete step-by-step guidance for starting and running a cold-water aquaponic farming businessโraising fish and vegetables together commercially. Coverage includes: A primer on cold-water aquaponics Pros and cons of different systems Complete design and construction of a Deep Water Culture system Recommended and optional equipment and tools System management, standard operating procedures, and maintenance checklists Maximizing fish and veg production Strategies for successful sales and marketing of fish and plants. As the only comprehensive commercial cold-water resource, The Aquaponic Farmer is essential for farmers contemplating the aquaponics market, aquaponic gardeners looking to go commercial, and anyone focused on high quality food production. Aquaponic farming is the most promising innovation for a sustainable, profitable, localized food system. Until now, systems have largely focused on warm-water fish such as tilapia. A lack of reliable information for raising fish and vegetables in the cool climates of North America and Europe has been a major stumbling block. The Aquaponic Farmer is the toolkit you need. "Provides almost a step by step cookbook on all pertinent aspects of aquaponics and is based upon the authors' experiences from their own successful farm." โMichael B. Timmons, PhD & PE, Professor Biological & Environmental Engineering, Cornell University Review: Best Aquaponics book I've read - This book is a must have for anyone considering a new commercial aquaponics venture, especially in a cold climate. It gives easy to understand instructions on how to source and build every component of the system, how to operate it and even a rough outline of a business plan. Bottom line, aquaponics can be a profitable venture. I believe it's the most sustainable form of agriculture out there right now. I'm super grateful to the authors for compiling all of this excellent information in one place. Their experience shines through and leaves me feeling prepared to start my own aquaponics system. This is not a book about why aquaponics is cool or sustainable or how to build a system for home use out of a bathtub. This is a how-to book for people who already see the potential and want a guide to get them started designing a system. Review: Really interesting and in depth - This is a great resource if youโre considering a self sustaining farm. I read it mostly for fun and knowledge and there was plenty in this book. The authors tell you about their mistakes and what theyโve learned. I really enjoyed this book.

A lot of great information but you will need another one to cover everything
Definitely one of best books I've come across for aquaponics but it only covers what they are doing.

Good book if interested in starting aquaponics operation.
Good book. I think better than another one that I had. They based their recommendations off the size of one greenhouse 36x120. If planning a different size it will take some calculations on your part. Planning to build one 60x60 to reduce heat loose but numbers are still pretty close to the same. If planning one yourself for profit, do lots of market research in your local area to know if really feasible or not. Need to be close to your customers willing to pay top dollar and in a warm climate due to heating cost.

This Book Will Get You Going Fast
Adrian is certainly a pioneer of cold water aquaculture systems. With so many system designs and ways of going about aquaponics, the authors offer a streamlined system with proven success. This college level text got me out of swimming in internet misinformation to deciding this can be a reality. Tilapia systems are typically talked about and studied, but I am in a colder climate and was excited to hear of this book. It is as efficient as the system and process it details. The first 5 chapters take you through the complete build with pictures. The last half describes operations and provides forms. Advancements in algae based feed make this an exciting time to raise trout and would make this the most sustainable cold water operation. Aquaponics offers a solution to the net pen and traditional aquaculture pollution. I am excited to tour the farm as well. Thank you for putting so much thought and organization into this world changing book and process. Considering online courses cost around $1,000, and I recommend these as well, this was the best ~$25 bucks I've ever spent. Use the formulas in the book to scale up or down, or just follow the blueprint and get started!

Great read thus far!
I haven't finished this book, but it is a great book thus far. The information in the book is concise and it covers details of the fish and plant sides to aquaponics. The authors provide excellent descriptions and concepts for building your own commercial sized aquaponics setup. I definitely recommend this book to those who have any interest in aquaponics within a greenhouse.

Unbelievable wealth of insight
After reading, Iโm stunned of the depth provided and selflessness displayed in shared experiences. The authors are true givers and any reader interested in learning from experts will not be disappointed.

It would help to have the abbreviations for the components in the glossary
I like that it's thorough they use a lot of abbreviations for components but they don't include a glossary indicating what those abbreviations mean I know they use those abbreviations likely on a daily basis so it's no problem for them to recall what those abbreviations mean but it's not something that's that easily done for people who are just reading the information and are unfamiliar with the abbreviations because they haven't been using them on a daily basis if they do write a new edition it would be very helpful to have a glossary that includes the abbreviations used for the components duh

overview
This is a book indicated for bigger systems. It is meant to be telling dettails but finally quantifications are missing. the illustration and schematics are not really easy to understand. I would say is ok for a high level overview but you arent going to build a system from this.
