As expected
Product is as-described and as-expected. The foam over the grips does not rotate on mine, as some reviewers have complained, and dimensions were accurate. The designers did a good job of making this bar drop far enough that you're not concerned about slamming your head on the ceiling, but kept the height low for those of us without high ceilings. The included lag bolts are really massive though. I used structural screws instead, which are stronger despite being smaller, from the extras from hanging overhead storage racks. I didn't use the lag bolts that came with those, either. They're cheaper for the manufacturer, but we have better fasteners available now.

Ceiling mounted multi- grip pull up bar
Installed bar in about 30 minutes and is a very sturdy mounting - I'm 270 lbs and no issues noted! It's an excellent addition to my garage gym!

Extremely Happy with this Ceiling Pull Up Bar
The best place in my exercise room for a pull up bar was the ceiling, and this bar is absolutely perfect. The room has a 7 ft ceiling and I mounted it on two ceiling joists that were 24 inches apart. The installation template that came with the bar to show where to drill the holes worked perfect. My joists were about 1.5 inches wide and I mounted it 8 inches from the start of an angled wall (would not have worked on the angle wall, had to be the ceiling).I’m 5 ft 10 and was a little worried about my head hitting the ceiling when I did a pull up, but the distance from the ceiling to the bar is perfect (its exactly 16.25 inches from the ceiling to the lowest point on the center of the bar). I thought about mounting a 2X6 board between the two risers and the ceiling like others have done, but it just wasn’t needed in my setup (and with only a 7 foot ceiling I didn’t want the bar any closer to the floor than it had to be)I was also a bit worried about how sturdy it would be but it turned out solid. I’m 180 pounds and there’s no movement or sway at all when I use it. Its anchored into the ceiling tight. I also hung suspension bands from the bar and did a workout just to test the weight limit, and it worked fine … no movement in the bar at all.The multiple different hand positions / grips make this a lot better than the straight pull up bar I grew up with (and the grips on this are very well padded).Installation took a little over an hour because I carefully measured and used a stud finder to ensure I drilled into the middle of the joists. The following tips that others put in their reviews helped a ton:> When you drill the pilot hole with the 5/16 drill bit, make sure the depth of the hole is 3 inches (measuredAFTER the bit is installed in the drill)> Don’t tighten the allen wrench bolts all the way until the very last step (it’s easy to finish that last step and attach the bar to the risers, after the risers are mounted to the ceiling)> Use a 17mm (or 11/16) ratchet to attach the risers to the ceiling (I used a 17mm drill attachment)It turned out perfect and I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a ceiling pull up bar.

All you need but...
It is a simple install and effective workout bar.Only issue I could see is the way the crossbar mounts. Two machine screws install to the upright mounting bars.Makes me feel like those could pull out under heavy use.If they did, I don't think it would be fun.

Measure Ceiling Joists
Excellent product! I’m about 225lb and was able to do about 8 pull-up with no problems and it’s a solid product! However, I strongly encourage measuring the distance between ceiling joists. While 16 inches & 24 inches are considered standard; I unfortunately discovered that mines were not 16 but rather 18 or I just happen to pick the spot that wasn’t standard size.Small problem that was resolved with a 2x6x30 inches board anchored to the joists and the pull up bar anchored to the board. I added additional screws in the board for added comfort.Total additional cost was approximately $20.00 because I had to buy the entire 2x6x12 board…so the additional pieces will become shelves.

You need a good stud finder to properly install.
I bought a quality stud finder because I kept getting different results with my $25 one. You must make sure you mount it in the center of the beam to make it sturdy and solid. This is great to have in a home. I bought it primarily to just hang and improve my grip strength, but also use it for pullups. I like the different ways to grip the bar.I debated putting it in the garage, but decided I'd use it more if I mounted inconspicuously in a large closet in the basement. I use it daily, sometimes just to do a few pullups.

Nice!
I like it but use longer lag screws and you need a socket or impact drill to get it in

BUY THIS but…READ REVIEWS BEFORE INSTALLING
This is a really great product. Installation is easy. The guide is easy to use. The drill bit size is wrong. I am not going to reinvent the wheel and rewrite what to do but there are a few reviews t get provide accurate details. Basically don’t make a hole as big as the hardware you are screwing into the stud and expect it to hold you. I am a 55 year old female and did this on my own in a matter of minutes. It is easy. But use the smaller drill bit recommended in reviews.
