Won't use any other after using our new Furminator
After trying at least a dozen various dog grooming brushes/tools, I ordered this after a YouTube video described it bring used on a German Shepherd that was in dire need of a thorough deshedding. Felt initially this was a bit expensive, but after using it could immediately tell it was so well worth it: easy to hold comfortably, super easy to use, and the self-cleaning function works well. Most surprising was how much our German Shepherd loved being groomed with this, and will put himself into different positions so I can brush him completely. He even rolls onto his back and thoroughly enjoys good tummy brushing, which he never did with any of the other grooming tools . Given our experiences, I have no problem highly recommending the furminator. It has made grooming time easier and more enjoyable, and the better results made this purchase a great one.

Works great on Wirehaired Pointing Griffin Puppy
We have a Wirehaird Pointing Griffin Puppy. It is about 6 months old, is about 38lb, and has a double- coat that doesn't shed. We purchased the furminator to address his undercoat. The product works great! It is not as dramatic as some of the reviews but that makes sense since this is a non-shedding breed. I still get plenty of hair out from the under-coat and his coat looks great when we are done. It does not cut the top coat, but the top-coat is smoother due to the combing action. You should do this outside and with two people to make it easier. He likes the process but being a puppy he wants to play the tool more then be brushed. If you get him distracted he happily sits there and doesn't mind at all. I would say to pet and brush, pet and brush so you can be sure that his skin is tight so you don't accidentally pinch him. We have a rubber type brush as well which doesn't work at all compared to this tool which we use weekly. I can't comment on whether or not it reduces shedding since ours doesn't, but I think it makes his coat healthier since it is taking out the dead and loose hair.

It's GRRRREAT!
This is the greatest tool EVER! I have a 120lb rescue dog. I swear, I think at least 75lbs of that is fur! Gator sheds 12 months out of the year & it's NOT a good situation! I've tried the cheap version of this & could see that the idea really works. However, he hated it & I could see why. Without the slight contour of the blade & the little bumps at each end of it to slightly "lift" it as needed, it was painful over the time needed to get the job done. Enter FURMINATOR!!!! It's just the best, hands down. Gator loves it & will hang out with me for as long as I want to continue to brush! He's even learned to adjust his position & posture as instructed😃 I can just mention "brushing" him or pick it up & he's all smiles! Now, if you're hesitating because of the price as I did, consider this. #1 It's made to LAST. #2 It's EXTREMELY comfortable to use, for both yourself AND your best friend. The handle is ergonomic & the head is at the perfect angle. The blade is slightly curved to match a dog's body. The little bumps (nubs?) at each end of the blade raise it a tiny bit from the dog's body to prevent irritation to the dog's skin & underlying structures. #3 You & your dog are going to have many years of comfort & LESS HAIR THAT'S UNATTACHED TO EITHER OF YOU! Just get it! Your dog will thank you & you'll feel pretty proud of yourself too!

A Must-Buy for Husky Owners
We got a Siberian Husky and I was searching for how to keep my house hair free. I came across the furminator, and it works amazingly. We bought this and the rake, so we use this once a week to deshed, then brush every night with the rake. It takes off so much hair - like TONS. There are piles of fur on our lawn and we do it on mowing days so it just clips into the grass. People come into our house and are shocked we own a Husky. Most of our friends with those thick furred friends have hair everywhere, but ours isn't. Now, I will say that this only works if you actually do it once a week and still rake every day too. You also need to really get in there, and make your dog sit and get all that fur out. Takes us about 20 minutes to deshed our 5-month old Husky, but by doing so I don't have Husky hair all over my home - so well worth the time.

NOT FOR ALL BREEDS / COAT TYPES, but very well made
I mistakenly purchased this for my Doodle (Cavapoo) and really messed up parts of her coat. She has been matting a lot lately and is likely shedding her puppy coat, so I wanted to find a good brush to help comb out loose hair as much as possible. It should be noted that in the in-box instructions explicitly states that this tool should NOT be used on “non-shedding” dogs. I unfortunately read that small part a tad too late, and now her silky waves has turned into spots of intense frizz that will have to be trimmed and grown out eventually. That said, I did find the tool to be very well constructed, sturdy, and made with hi grade materials. If you have a breed that this would be suitable for, I can see its benefit. But if you have a poodle, poodle mix or any other traditionally non-shedding dog, I would steer clear, or if you do buy it, try it in an inconspicuous spot first and wait at least a day or 2 to see how the coat reacts

Exceeds expectations!
This product lives up to it's hype! I ordered the small size for long hair and it works amazing on my 2 chihuahuas! One of them has fine, long hair and the other has short thick hair and it works equally great on both. My short hair chihuahua mix sheds like crazy and this is a game changer for him! This hands down beats brushing alone. Both dogs already enjoy being brushed so they had no problem with the furminator. (I think they actually enjoy it more than regularly brushing.) I brushed my long haired chihuahua for about 5 minutes the first time which was pretty effective for him. My short haired mix leaves a trail of hair every where he goes. I brushed him for the first time for at least 20 minutes. He didn't want me to stop which was just as well because it worked the entire time. For my dogs, spending time to brush them and remove all the excess hair the first was most effective. Now, I only need to give them a quick 2 minute brush every few days to keep them from shedding.

Groomer recommended for a reason!!!
Our newly rescued border collie has gone from no shed to full on fur monster as we've nursed her back to health. We noticed how much better she was after coming back from the groomer. In addition to asking about the shampoo she uses, we also asked what brush and she said the Furminator was the best she'd come across. We already feed her the high dollar dog food for dogs that shed, but this brush is where it's at. If we brush her even once a week, the shedding is cut by 80% or or more. The Furminator does a great job getting the undercoat and releases the hair super easy. Our girl has never been fond of brushing, but she's really come around to this brush. I'm not saying she wants to be brushed, but she not running away or whining while we do it. Bonus, I'm pretty sure this is going to greatly extend the life of my vacuum and my dryer which were both complaining about the constant load of dog hair in the filters. If you love your fur baby but hate the fur balls roaming your house get a Furminator and don't look back.

Excellent brush for double coated dogs, works on equines as well. Easy clean up.
I had my own grooming shop for several years. This tool is invaluable when it comes to a double coated animal. I own a Corgi who is going on 12 yrs. The furrmanator is the only tool that works beautifully and easily, for human as well as dog. I would not use on a curly coat or a thinning coat. But on a American Eskimo or wolf mix it is ideal. Make certain there are no mats, using a matting comb, then use furminator. The teeth are like a barber clippers-almost a # 30 blade, so pulling out mats would be hard on the dog. Start with a good grooming, then once or twice a week, use furminator to keep the coat in good condition. I can get a 33.5 gallon bag of under hair half full if I use 1x /week. And the push device on top of handle makes it easy to clean.
