greatly helps my arthritic 18 years old kitty to get to where he wants to go
I think how well this style will work for you will depend on the needs of your animal. Works great for my elderly cat who at 18 has some arthritis in in rear legs. He goes up and down them just fine. Very sturdy! I can lean on the steps and am not concerned with it falling apart.Height: 29" (as tall as most desks)Width: 15.5" roughlyDepth: 23.5"There are 4 steps contained within that 23.5" base & 29" height. The height from step to step is 7" (bottom of one step to top of the next), andThe depth of the step is 8", but since there is a little overhang from step above, then I would say 6.5". Keep this in mind as it may not be deep enough for some dogs to comfortably navigate the steps. I think most cats could handle this. In short: consider how much clearance they need. This is a TALL 29" unit. Is same height as most desks and some beds. The material is a smooth almost plush feel. Some animals may do better with a carpet style. If you have cats and are familiar with the Furhaven self warmer pads, or have Amarkat items, then the material is the same. I have no idea if a dog would use this. I would think that unless they are cat sized, then they would most likely need a less steep angle. This is perfect for a cat. This unit has been FANTASTIC. It was easy, and kind of fun to put together. The instructions were clear, and the labeling of each piece was correct. No headaches or frustration. Put together inside of 15 minutes. The base is a hinged board that becomes one solid board once the poles are attached.I am impressed with how sturdy this 4 step unit is. The carpeting is a soft, plush material. Smooth and short napped, much like their other products.I find it to be amazingly sturdy, especially when it butts up against something. It took my cats a few days to come around to using it, then once they did it became a normal part of their routine. At time of purchase, it was bought for use with my two elderly cats in mind, now at time of writing this just the one :( Both have/had weakness in their rear legs, especially my boy who seems to not be able to jump up. He can pull himself up if it is a soft surface to grab onto, or if the steps are short. My girl, who has passed, was able to jump up and down, but I wanted to provide her the added benefit of not having to. We have a younger cat who has used this, but hasn't had a need for it since he can just jump up and down from places. But it also has a lot to do with the current placement. The 4 step unit is tall. It is 29", so taller than some bed heights. If placed up against a basic bed, it my cat has to step down once he reached the top. If I wanted the steps to be about same height, then I would have gone with the 3 step unit, as it is 25". Anyway, it is exact same as my desk height. It is used as a step to get up onto my desk, which works well. I have an odd set up, which I will explain. My desk then has a twin bed along the same wall, and then another to form an "L" shape.. then a table (which at this point would be on wall across from my desk) where his food and water are. The spot where the table and 2nd bed meet has another set of stairs, but of a different kind (and are shorter). Anyway, this room is set up for the comfort and care of my boy, as well as for my two dogs and other cat. It is where I hang out a lot, so it is where they hang out a lot.For my boy, I like that he can wander the house, then come back to his room and have a couple of options as to how to get on and off the desk/bed/table set up. From there, my kitty can hang out on my desk with me, or he can walk across the bed to another area to rest. Anything for my babies, and this has been a great addition. Now, if I didn't want to use this as a step system for the purpose described, I would find it easy to use it elsewhere in the house, or as part of a larger cat climber set up.

Surprisingly fantastic quality
These stairs are very sturdy. I was surprised by how heavy they are. Not too heavy to assemble, but very sturdy and balanced. I recommend these over the cushion-pillow type that i’ve seen. My dog is still getting used to them but they are working out great. It is the perfect height for our bed. I like that the top step can be flipped around to fit a bed that is not completely flat on the side, such as with our bed that has the side paneling. It already doesn’t slide around much, but I put a rug mat underneath to make it even more secure. It was easy to assemble too.

Sturdy, aesthetically nice, & great price point! Perfect for senior pets - will definitely buy again
These stairs are really sturdy; especially for the price. I paid at least $85 for my other set that's very similar. I actually stood on them and tested them out so I can attest that this size holds up to 140lbs... even if that's not recommended usage. They're VERY easy to assemble and the hardware is super substantial. I originally ordered the larger size and didn't measure like I should have - they were way too big for my dog, but I didn't think about checking the size because I wouldn't have imagined stairs that large would have been so affordable. I returned them for the smaller size and they're perfect. I have a 30lb Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who has arthritis and needs help getting on my bed/the couch. I have tried foam soft stairs before, but he refuses to use those. I don't think he feels stable on them when it's dark inside. As I said, my dog is about 30 lbs. but the stairs would still be good for dogs up to 40-ish pounds. If you are leaning towards the larger size, definitely double check the dimensions. Overall, these are a great buy; I plan on buying another set.

Sturdy and Tall
I have a tiny rescue Chihuahua and a tall bed. Some may describe her as a black-hearted, soulless creature, and she sure is hell-bent on guarding her sweet little angel wings, but she is my absolute love, hence me having spent my hard-earned money on stairs so this less than ten-pound dog can continue to sleep directly in the middle of a king-sized bed every night. It's like she's mapped out the coordinates to the very exact middle and then somehow quadruples in size. So imagine it's 2 a.m., and you're sleeping pretty well, trying hard to not wake yourself up, but you need to shift positions. That is unacceptable to little sleeping beauty. Should you require to move at all, she jumps down off the bed in a huff, only to return one minute later regretting her hot-headed actions, and scratching and whining at the side of the bed, her little eyes offering many apologies to be lifted up and resume ruling over her bed. You can see why we'd like a bit of independence for her when coming and going off the bed. We've been given foamy pet steps, tried boxes and different silly configurations of items that would allow her to have the necessary independence to come and go as she pleases at whatever wee hour her little heart desired, but nothing worked, nothing was sturdy enough to give her the confidence to leap up, and nothing was tall enough. This has been going on for at least three or more years. I was again in a cycle of growing weary of her middle of the night habits, and finally decided to dive deeper in the dark underworld of pet steps. It took a little bit, but I found these, available in a three-step model, or four-step model. I measured my bed, and definitely would need the four-step model, and I wasn't convinced at all that this would still be tall enough for her to jump up, but they were reasonably priced compared to less sturdier, smaller ones, so I took the leap and clicked that "buy now" button. They arrived in a small box, so I was a little worried. Turns out you had to build them, which is a-okay by me. I popped everything out of the box, and inventoried all the parts. The only reason I gave these a four-star initial review is because a washer was missing, so one leg is washerless. I was much too eager to put this bad boy into play, that I wasn't going to return them or request another - this train was leaving the station and heading to Independent Chi Town. I built them very quickly, was not difficult to put together at all. Took me about 20 minutes between opening the box, putting together and breaking down the box for the recycle bin. I eagerly put the steps in place, the height looked good, the rest was up to my Chi. We jumped up on the bed, which left her begging for admittance. We tapped on the stairs a few times, she put some hesitant paws on one of the steps, then another, and before you know it - she was a pet step expert! We kept putting her back down and making her use the steps to get up, which she didn't find amusing, but enjoyed the cheering and pets each time she made it back on the bed. They are definitely sturdy enough where she felt comfortable bearing down her weight to make a leap from one step to another and then from the top step to the bed. You can see from the picture how tall our bed is, and these 36" high stairs are just the right size. FINALLY!!! It's crazy because people sell their pet steps all over FB Marketplace, and they are usually pretty expensive for used ones, and these were very reasonable in price for their sturdiness and height. If you're looking to get pet steps, I say go forth with these.

Great tall stairs
This worked perfectly for our needs. Steps could be a little wider an deeper for our daschund. We bought a second one to make it wider but she's nervous because each step isn't very deep. Solid, sturdy, easy to assemble

Exactly what I wanted
I have only just assembled these so I can’t comment on longevity but I am really impressed with this item out of the box. I have a 10 year old cat who has started to show some signs of arthritis in her legs and a bit of difficulty jumping up on my bed, so I wanted to buy some stairs to make it easier on her. Most of the options I found were plastic or wood and didn’t go with my decor at all, so I was really happy to find these even though I had to pay a bit more for shipping to Australia. The stairs seem sturdy and were easy to assemble. My cat is 5-6kg and I have no concern about them supporting her, they could probably support a small child. The plush covering is very soft! I have already prompted my cat to go up and down them a few times and she’s gotten the hang of it, so I’m hopeful this will take stress off her legs.

Absolutely the best we’ve found.
We are SO happy with these stairs. This is the fifth (!) set of stairs we’ve tried, as well as a ramp, and this is exactly what we’ve been searching for. They are sturdy, the perfect height, and the way they are built is so nice because you can see through them. It’s not like having something SOLID at the end of our bed. So visually it doesn’t seem to take up as much space. We’ve had foam stairs, plastic stairs, wooden stairs, fold out stairs and the ramp. These stairs are perfect! Our dog finally can get on and off our bed with CONFIDENCE!! Just buy them, these are the ones you are looking for.
