Great Companion to the Hardcover
This is only 7th edition compared to the Hardcover's 8th. But it still has 99% of the relevant information in a much more condensed format. This is highly recommended if you need to review the material quickly, and if you're looking at this review saving time is really what you're hoping to do. A few of the chapters have changed order (i.e. white and red blood cell chapters have swapped), but the data is there. This is light on pictures and charts, so the hardcover edition is still useful. It also cuts out a lot of the fluff, so if you learn better by reading less dense material this may not be for you. If you just want the important stuff in big Robbins and only want to spend 1/4 of the time reading it, this is the book for you.

THE BEST pathology review
I bought this book along with a thousand other path books (Big Robbins, Goljan, BRS) first year because I heard good things about all of them. While I used Goljan during Pathology (gold standard/must have...audio is also very helpful), I just started using this book for boards review....IT IS AWESOME! I wish I used it earlier. It has all the high yield stuff you need to know but also explains it well (helps paint that "pathology picture" that my professor always talks about...vs just memorizing high yield facts). I never really used "big" Robbins (to much detail) but I seriously love this pocket companion. Fits in white coat pocket so I plan on having it with me next year too (at least during IM). If I could go back I would have only purchased this book (along with Goljan) and not Big Robbins or the Robbins Qbank/Book (I have looked at this book and think it is too much detail for boards although a lot of other people still swear by it). Hope this was helpful.

Great Little Book!
I purchased this book about two months into my MS2 year in Medical School, and I've very glad to have made the switch. "Baby" Robbins covers all the pertinent topics of Big Robbins while leaving out most of the smaller, inconsequential details. I do go back and look at Big Robbins for some of the gross photographs and the tables, though, as they are not included in this book. A new version is set to be released in March 2011 - I'm sure that will be a good update, but it's just a bit too late for my schedule. If you can wait until March, that would probably be your better bet.

Satisfied
I have the full version text book, as well as the pocket version and the pocket version is a good summary of the complete textbook. The topics are covered concisely but with enough detail and explanation. There is also references to all pages in the full text for extra clarification.

I wish I bought it before second year.
This book is an excellent pocket resource. As a student, I use it 20x more than the big Robbins because it is so easy to use. I can actually take it to class. It doesn't replace the big text for detail, but you will definitely use it more.

Pathology for Basic Sciences
This is an ok book. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because I do not think it is the best book to read while learning Pathology (Basic Sciences). I recommend that you purchase a more substantial Pathology book, though you could carry it around to read while you wait for public transit or any other time you have some waiting to do.

Great by for your money
This books was a great condensed version of "Big Robbins" as we call it. Excellent study tool! A must have for quick reference for all physicians in my opinion.

This is an excellent book for revision. It doesn't have any photos which is why it gets away with being so concise, so some might like to use another book as their core text. It's well laid out and contains the need to know information for medical school exams without being overwhelming. Plus I felt it was very good value for money.
